Yes because nintendo has never copied anyone before

They did? Not that I really care in the long run, just want to hear your history of events.

Optic media

SEGA Saturn launched before the PS1 and the Amiga CD over a year before...

edit: forgot the 3DO and the Sega CD they also had optical media before SONY...

EDIT2: also Nintendo hired Sony to make a CD addon to the SNES even earlier as well so...

I knew this was coming. I didn't say nintendo stole from sony, but they did steal.

who did they "steal" from? I thought we were talking about copying, I don't think Nintendo have ever stolen anything.

BTW the point I was trying to make is that everyone and their god was using optical media in their gaming consoles, Nintendo were very reluctant to adopt the technology. They did dabble in it as an add-on but it was only by the time when the gamecube came out that they were forced to adopt optical media over flash memory. There wasn't really a viable choice in the matter at the time, games were getting to big to fit on the flash memory at the time and flash memory was far more expensive. Being forced to adopt the industry standard is not what I would call "stealing".

Now Nintendo have copied lots of things over the years. For example when they entered the console market they copied and improved upon the designs of their failed contemporaries. Everyone copies it's not usually bad thing as long as you improve on it in some way (at least IMO), it's just your example was not a good one.

This rumor is taking away the sleep from mr.Kaz Hirai , cuz if it is true , Nintendo will sell a gazilions of 3dss on day one.

He's not worried at all, 3D is imprecise on portables, remember? rofl

Meanwhile they're working on a glasses free 3D PSP "since 2008" =P

Lol, you just KNOW they're going to say something like that once they finally reveal their PSP2 with dual screens, touch sensitivity, motion sensors and 3D screen. XD It'll definitely happen, without a shred of doubt.

But of course Sherlock, haven't you heard they were working on a motion sensing wand like the wiimote in the same year they dropped this pearl:

"I think the notion of that controller [wiimote] is a non-trivial point that you’ve brought up, that control and that familiarity is like comfort food - from my perspective, we lead, we don’t folleyow. And as a brand, Nintendo’s got their thing, and we’re not trying to get the senior citizen group to get into gaming"

"but we’d never consider iterating off of existing competitive technology - because we think that’s a fad and that’s not the way we approach product development. It’s not the way we approach the marketing or the branding of PlayStation."

They always trash talk what they are currently doing better and before than others. Just to disguise.

Sony. Serious. Business. Rofl.

I  just have to say... pure win. We need to show this to Leo-j. And everyone that seriously think Sony was behind motion controls before nintendo

eye toy came out in 2001 buddy

and the move was in development since 2002, and they showed off a tech demo in 2004,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcl7ivUJw3k

sorry that you misinformed nintendo fans think the move is only a wii mote 2.0 and nothing else, then what can I expect from people that would love to see sony burn and would spin around anything to make sony look bad.. hey but of course

nintendo obviously kept CATRIDGES AFTER SONY LAUNCHED THE PS1

nintendo obviously went into 3D CONSOLE GAMING AFTER SONY released the first 3D console

and of course nintendo obviously went DUAL ANALOGUE AFTER SONY RELEASED THE DS enhancement..

nooo but nintendo is god, and they are the innovators of the industry, which is why 3rd party devs LOVE the wii.

Game Boy Camera and Kirby's Tilt'N Tumble both predate EyeToy by years.  Factor-5 said they used a Wiimote prototype back in 2000/2001 when they were developing Rogue Leader.

Nintendo released their first non-cartridge media platform in 1985 (the Famicom Disc System).  In 1993 they made deals with both Sony and Phillips for SNES CD-ROM add ons that (unfortunately) never came to fruition.

Virtual Boy was the first dedicated 3D system on the market way back in 1995 (first shown in 1994). GameCube's chipset was actually designed with 3D compliance in mind, and EAD had a 3D version of Luigi's Mansion running on a proprietary screen back before launch even.

The DualShock came out almost 3 years after Nintendo first unveiled  the N64's "analog thumbstick" in 1995.

Anything else?

There were a lot of rumours of new sensory controller at the time, post factum I remember reading a quote by Sega rep about it in 2000.

And yeah, good post. A bit of overkill though =)
