Yes because nintendo has never copied anyone before

They did? Not that I really care in the long run, just want to hear your history of events.

Optic media

SEGA Saturn launched before the PS1 and the Amiga CD over a year before...

edit: forgot the 3DO and the Sega CD they also had optical media before SONY...

EDIT2: also Nintendo hired Sony to make a CD addon to the SNES even earlier as well so...

I knew this was coming. I didn't say nintendo stole from sony, but they did steal.

who did they "steal" from? I thought we were talking about copying, I don't think Nintendo have ever stolen anything.

BTW the point I was trying to make is that everyone and their god was using optical media in their gaming consoles, Nintendo were very reluctant to adopt the technology. They did dabble in it as an add-on but it was only by the time when the gamecube came out that they were forced to adopt optical media over flash memory. There wasn't really a viable choice in the matter at the time, games were getting to big to fit on the flash memory at the time and flash memory was far more expensive. Being forced to adopt the industry standard is not what I would call "stealing".

Now Nintendo have copied lots of things over the years. For example when they entered the console market they copied and improved upon the designs of their failed contemporaries. Everyone copies it's not usually bad thing as long as you improve on it in some way (at least IMO), it's just your example was not a good one.
