Forums - Gaming - Enslaved Demo Impressions

For all European PS3 owners, for now, and other people when it becomes available to them.

I wasn't really very impressed with it, to be honest, and I was disappointed after the trailers and claims that it would be the best looking game ever. It all felt very fluid, but controlling Monkey as he sprinted around everywhere was far from easy, the platforming was hugely forgiving to make up for this, they chose the one part of the game during which all of the environments are colourless and bland, the combat seemed really shallow, and the graphics weren't all that fantastic.

The scope was pretty amazing though: I loved the part where Monkey had to clamber up the ship to avoid being smashed into a building, and the sight of the ship crashing into the city.

I understand that it's probably a gross misrepresentation of the game, but that's entirely Ninja Theory's fault. And even though I know that the full game will be much better, I feel my hype for it dwindling.

I would rate that demo 7.5/10.

What does everyone else think?

I was not a fan of the gameplay and it was very glitchy, but I liked all the rest.

I give the demo 8.6/10.

i didn't play it but i saw footage of it, they choose the most boring and bland section of the game as a Demo, are they trying to appeal to the Bland looking game fans?

I really liked the platforming sections, I never felt that I didn't know where to go or jump and it flowed nicely. The graphics were okay but the art style really makes up for it. Also, Monkey's voice acting is awesome. Honestly, the combat wasn't that good, it's not bad by any means but it feels kinda gluey. I also noticed some graphical gltiches like monkey disappearing in cutscenes and some audio clippings, hope they fix that upon release.

overall, I was impressed but I'll wait until it gets cheaper after release.

I haven't expected much from the game so I enjoyed the demo, definete rent for me.

I think 7.5 is spot on.

I wasn't dissappointed as such, but it didn't have any "wow" factor. Technically I was more impressed by Heavenly Sword, although the segment on the outside of the ship was brilliant. The platforming was very Uncharted-like but with melee combat rather than guns. Overall, solid gameplay, but nothing special.

They probably should have shown a level where you have to protect the girl for a bit to show how that gameplay dynamic works. It feels like it's missing some integral components for a demo.

I'd say Uncharted-lite. You can never just fall off anything or mis-jump. The challenges in the platforming are all just how fast you can get through the time sensitive segments, otherwise it's just getting from point a to point B. With Uncharted you could fall and die if you didn't get the dioretion of your jump right, and of course you could fall off anywhere if you didn't pay attention to where you were running.

I enjoyed the demo and I think the game should get in the mid 8's. Graphically nothing special, but middle of the road HD console graphics is plenty good enough for this game to be worthwhile. Not sure it's a game for my (will buy) A-list though.

Playing the demo did make me more interested in the game.
