Forums - Sony - My Reasonable Move Impressions

So the differences between the wii and move regarding tech ability is marginal at best.

Im surprise you came up with that conclusion after reading the review of Reasonable. For games where depth wouldnt add anything, like shooter, than yes you can say its marginal. But, if you compare games like Move table tennis to Wii motion plus table tennis, the difference is more than marginal. Also, games using 2 motion controller (archery, gladiator, the fight) doesnt have a comparative on Wii. Sure you need to purchase 2, but still, the feature and tech is there.

If you aren't planning on playing move in a living room/ large space.. good luck

that's my experience with sports champions so far.. I don't like the PS EYE/MOVE combination because of that reason.. you are limited to what the ps eye sees, and if you want to play in your room or something, it really wont work that well..

also it's kinda retarded that Sports champions doesn't have online... it would have been such a bigger hit had it come with online multiplayer/competitive play.. I mean gladiator's online would have been... just.. epic.

but we'll see what they do with it.. I didn't have trouble with other move demos in terms of spacing and the ps eye, but still.. I didn't feel anything 1:1 either.. only maybe tumble.. and even that had issues

for me

edit:

Btw as of the comparisons between it and the wii.. accuracy the move takes it, but that's not just it.. the move actually doesn't feel like the wii.. it's kind of strange.. with the wii I get this feeling of wow its so interesting how my movements reflect in the game etc.. but with move I feel that wow I better keep up or, is the game glitching or is my ps eye not catching my controllers..

a game like start the party is real different from anything ive played, but it's almost sholverware from what I've played with the demo.. since it isn't THAT accurate when it comes to hitting what's on screen, the move is 1:1 there for sure, but it feels like a mix of a PS EYE game and a move game with precision, don't wanna go more into it since I haven't played it that much, so I'll see if it impresses me

If your talking of table tennis, you need to get to the silver cup before you have real control. In bronze cup, the racket will move by itself at the ball. If not, what are you talking about exactly?

Thanks

You are to close to the PSeye. The manual in Sports Champions says to keep 8 ft (2.5m) away. But I play around 5 ft away and it plays like a dream...Move is perfect 1:1

Where is you Eye positioned?  Try and put it somewhere that gives it a greater field of view over a shorter distance.  For example, if you can put it higher angled down it'll read you as further away due to the added height plus the forward distance.  Obviously at a certain point it'll be too high and distort things but I've found I can put it higher than my TV and stand withing 5 feet and everything seems to work fine.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

My short review goes as follows:

Tumble: Should be a day one purchase, cheap, but interesting puzzle game that works very well on the move. 72%

EyePet: Much improved because it is alot less reliant on light issues. BUT for some reason one of the games still relies intially on drawing on paper, which if you have bad light takes some getting past, then all further drawings can be done by hand or by move... very strange decision to say the least. 72%.. but overall alot better because of move.

KungFu Rider: Really really poor game, the game isnt fluid at all. A game like this should be like a race, but you keep getting stopped or slow cornering takes the speed/fun out of it. Really not a fun game at all. Probably the worst game i have played on the PS3 (and thats saying something)... 26%

Sports Champions: Really good fun, loved the table tennis. Should be a first week buy (though i still think its a little over priced and would have been a real bargin at £19.99). 76%

The Shoot: Fun, but is very limited in scope, and will not offer much replay value. Would be ok as a psn title at £10. 64%

Thats about it at the moment, I am enjoying the move (just awaiting the sub controller to arrive so i can play RE5)... I think its a nice device, some potential teething problems that Sony need to get a handle on as been previously mentioned.. but looks good. I dont think there is an immediate purchase reason to buy it, unless there is a particular game to buy, but i think when the bigger games come out (with alittle more polish on the control method)... things will be much improved.

You can use a DualShock 3 as the navigation controller

Thanks for your impressions, looking good overall. Except:

"What I am saying is that, Nintendo titles aside, with Move there is now no technical difference between the two."

Yes, I see what you mean. Problem is: the Nintendo titles is what made the Wii huge. I think a lack of focus is going to hurt Sony. But we'll have to see (I'm biased as I like Kinect... so)
