Round 18 he explained his phylosophy on 1st day lynch and this is consistant. I didn't HoS him on that, I HoSed him on the fact that he usually more verbose when he takes a decision and that this is combined with a post that has all the characteristics of a scum bandwagoning. Also proff pointed out that he was a tipping point voter here... meaning voting right in the center of the lynch train to appear less suspicious. These are all valid points to FoS/HoS Probably wouldn't lynch on it, but it is the most anyone has against them so far. |
My explanations for a Day One lynch only seem to confuse people. I thought I would keep it simple this time. Apparently people don't like that either. If you really want me to go into it, I will.
The only way for the town to win is to lynch scum. We have limited opportunities to do so. All that no lynching does is remove from the town a chance to lynch scum. It is hard to say how many mis-lynches it will take to lose the game, but if we no-lynch today, it will be one less. I would rather take five shots than four, and I would rather take four shots than three. Even though the odds aren't great at hitting scum today, lynching actually tips the scales in favor of the town in the long run.
What if we target an important townie? Then they role claim, and we switch targets. This is always a danger when we lynch, and it only increases as the game goes on. Fewer players mean more chance at exposing important townies.
Was I bandwagoning? Yeah, I guess I was. But I don't see another way to get a lynch done on Day One. The way I see it, you can't score if you don't shoot. Some chance is better than no chance. This will tip the odds in favor of the town in the long run.
Think about how difficult it is to lynch on Day One. I have only ever seen it twice on this site. One was a HUGE mistake by scum. In the zombie(town) game, a human(scum) blatantly outed himself in his first or second post. Even then, the zombies(town) almost talked themselves out of lynching him. The other was a townie jokingly claiming to be scum, then going a bit crazy trying to defend the joke, and on top of it role claiming vanilla townie. After around 600 posts (on Day One!), the town finally decided that even if they weren't scum, then they were at least disruptive enough to want him dead.
What I am trying to say, is that there doesn't seem to be a great way to get someone lynched on Day One, even though it is the right play for the town. So I put my vote on the most likely to get lynched. It has nothing to do with past games, as Final-Fan suggested, it has everything to do with the odds of winning this game for the town.
We can always save that no-lynch for later. It may be the tactically right move to make later in the game. If we no-lynch now, then we may need to no-lynch again later. The same result of two no-lynches can usually be achieved by just lynching everyday. Two no-lynches definitely mean an extra kill for the scum too. Even a single no-lynch could mean an extra kill for the scum depending on how the game plays out.

Reading the thread now, this is why I quote old things...

This time, please, nobody answer except TruckOSaurus, though you've all gone and given him a suitable innocent answer now >_> What prompted you to confirm the role-alignment link? Wouldn't it make sense that role and alignment would be tied? |
I've stated my reasons before here goes:
In the Mortal Kombat game it wasn't tied, in the Video Game Character game a long time ago, it wasn't tied either. Last game, sabby tried to get away with "I'm a Titan but I'm town!", sure it didn't work but I don't want scum to even have the chance to try that.

@theRepublic
I don't mind lynching on day 1, but it has to be for a reason (even a small one). random votes doesn't work for me
the odds of killing a townie is much higher. I read ur post and I don't understand ur reasoning.
