Forums - Website Topics - Why does Alexa.com rate Vgchartz as Very Slow? And more...

I thought it was my connection. Yes this site compared to others is very slow to load.

yeah I'm pretty sure they measured it during VGC 2.0 (Or as Gilgamesh would say 4.0).

It's way better now, but compared to other sites it's still slow.

It's very slow loading pages in Australia.

All the images, gifs, and ads on every page.....

It's a memory killer

It was so bad before the site update that browsers were crashing from the amount of memory all the spyware adds were taking up. I wouldn't come on the site for weeks because I hated how slow and annoying the site had become.

The improvements after the site update have completely changed that. I still don't like the autoplaying advertisements as they take up a lot of memory but besides that it has gotten so much better. They probably reviewed it from before the update.

What are possible ways they can improve on this?  I mean, hopefully this was pre-updated website.  I stopped going on IGN long ago because I found it annoyingly slow.

P.S. Also, if you're curious, you can scroll down the page and compare this site to others in terms of popualrity, prettty fun.  I noticed a dropoff in N4G's site visits at the same time we shot up a little. We are quite close.  Interesting! lol

maybe it's the ads? that and this site usually has more "filled" pages than what i see around the net

Disable sigs. That's what I've done, I always felt all those fanboy images and annoying gifs were... well, annoying. And it definitely doesn't make the site slower at least.

The site has a lot on the front page particularly, it therefore loads slower than most - hence the rating I'd guess.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I'm more concerned with the raft of trojan attacks kaspersky has blocked over the last few weeks....

So people are still getting virus attacks?  Shouldn't this be addressed if you are trying to make a viable game site.  At least if you ever want to compete with the bigger game sites.
