Something is completely off here.

Sony's financial documents state 102.49 million.  As per FCC laws and regulations, you can't lie about these figures.  130 must be a mistake on Dille's part.   Sounds like he added the total number of consoles plus the total number of PSOnes.

Total PS - 102.49.  Of the 102.49, 28.15 million are PSones.  Add them, you get 130 million.

Peter Dille just goofed up really bad.

Looking at how boldly close the PS sales are to 103m, I can't help but wonder if he accidentally typed "103" in the wrong order.

Was Sony's report written or spoken?

The 102.49 figure is what has been liste din the quarterly and annual fianncial documents since 2005.

While I understand there are laws, wouldn't that be an IRS or SEC regulation instead of FCC? I'm not clear on the whole of their powers and jurisdictions, so there is likely something there that gives them that authority.

Sorry, meant FEC.

Wfz, that figure would also fit right in line with their reported production figures.  Further refuting 130 million.

The Federal Election Commision? Um, how would that organization's rules relate to video game sales? I know there are campaign contribution issues, but I don't get how that would relate to just how many products you sold.

even your link provides it...in so from 2000 to 2007 the Mini PS1 sold 28.15 more units the small PS1 was still a playstation one. which is 130 million playstaion 1's sold to the consumer ..thus their chart is what they have sold through to the consumer. that answer's that.

1. Okay, that makes sense.

2. I understand. I often type so fast, typos happen more often than I like.

Wow, I didn't think the PS one mini actually sold that much, I've only met one person that's ever had one.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

You are reading the chart incorrectly.  102.49 is the cumulative total of all models.  28.15 is the total of just the PSone model.

well after i had gotten out of the Navy i met up with some of my navy buddies i had about 15 close buddies in the us navy that all bought one because they were so small they did not take up very much room when off base or on ship they could pack them in their bag and on board locker's are not that big so the fact they were so small was a good thing for these guy's so it's when they were off duty, they were playing some playstation out at sea..lol

does it freakin matter..the PS1 is still a playstation 1, it only played playstation one games.

look at the chart again..they are talking about from 2000 to 2007 which was the last year of production of the Playstation 1:

take note:

Mar 23, 2006

Sony entered the global gaming industry with the Japanese release of the original PlayStation in December of 1994. More than 11 years and two more consoles later, the electronics giant has pulled the plug on its first console, ceasing all production of PS units. Last September, Sony announced that the original PlayStation and its PSOne redesign had surpassed the 100 million units sold milestone.

no the slim ps1 was released in 2000, thus as of 2000 to 2007 the Slim ps1 sold 28.15 million unit's world wide.

there was no more first run PS1's only the slim line PS1 and it was still in production all the way upto 2006 they ended production 2006 but there was stock still all they way up to 2007
