Listen dude, them caving in and building the mosque in another place would be like them admiting that their religion had anything to do with the bombings and also admitting that there's something to people's irrational fears of Islam. The more those people with PTSD isolate themselves from their fears, the more those fears will seem justified. Eventually they're gonna suggest that muslims are thrown out of the US 'cause it's "insensitive" for them to be walking on the same soil as the poor mental ill people. Are you suggesting all muslims are terrorists? Because the "other side, the people building the mosque, are not terrorists. If you think that this Church wants to offend only Islamic terrorists, you should know that they consider all muslims terrorists. Any idiot can realise that burning the Qu'ran will do nothing more than insult all muslims around the world and give Islamic terrorists material to recruit new memebers.

This is one of those stories that I just don't get. We,  in the UK, don't really have crazy religious people. Racists sure, BNP fills that gap nicely but even they have a PR machine.

Burning any religious text is just ridiculous and an insult to free thinking people everywhere, especially those of the faith of which book you are burning.

I've even heard USAians compare it to burning of their national flag, as though it's the same thing. But alas, that's their opinion to have not mine.

well, at this point I am not sure if anyone's reading but for what it's worth:

as a Muslim, I am torn myself, I don't see a problem with the mosque, those attack were not done by muslims, if anyone tried reading Quran while being drunk would know that and some are just too blind and forget that many muslims were victimized on sep. 11 too.

On the other hand, Islamic countries are partially blamed for this. Pretty low standards of education and shitty economy as a result of a corrupted governments and not the lack of financial resources is defintly gonna "produce" mass stupidity and bat shit crazy extremites who painted the image of "Islam = torrerism" in the minds of the westren society. So I suggest they start making real efforts and represent what true Islam is to people like the "realmafoo" and once he understands that "Islam is nothing more then a peaceful religion. To think anything other then this, is to be a racist bigoted American." then build your freaking mosque!

Now for the Quran burning, do it if you want but you will never know what the outcome is but sparking so much hate is never good.
