Forums - General Discussion - Church plans to burn the Quran on Sept. 11

sad.man.loves.vgc said:

well, at this point I am not sure if anyone's reading but for what it's worth:

as a Muslim, I am torn myself, I don't see a problem with the mosque, those attack were not done by muslims, if anyone tried reading Quran while being drunk would know that and some are just too blind and forget that many muslims were victimized on sep. 11 too.

On the other hand, Islamic countries are partially blamed for this. Pretty low standards of education and shitty economy as a result of a corrupted governments and not the lack of financial resources is defintly gonna "produce" mass stupidity and bat shit crazy extremites who painted the image of "Islam = torrerism" in the minds of the westren society. So I suggest they start making real efforts and represent what true Islam is to people like the "realmafoo" and once he understands that "Islam is nothing more then a peaceful religion. To think anything other then this, is to be a racist bigoted American." then build your freaking mosque!

Now for the Quran burning, do it if you want but you will never know what the outcome is but sparking so much hate is never good.

And I love how muslims and christians claim superiority over the other when both sides are not willing to show forgiveness and sensitivity... I say burn your bible and Koran because you never read them.

oh, Mcdonald example was kinda funny, I mean if you are so freaking sensitive you may wanna change the looks of the American flag for the sensitive innocent Iraqi people because you know looking at it would inflict pain. When a black guy rapes a white one , you don't tell go tell him , the white guy, to live somewhere where no black guys exist, you explain to him and make him grow out of his fears.

Well I get your argument as to why there are so many stupid extremists in poor Muslim countries, but you'd expect mafoo, having grown up in a civilized secular Western country, having had acess to quality education, and allegedly having an IQ of 165, to know better that to stereotype all muslims as terrorists and to see the real factors which have caused those terrorists to exist.

Under the US Constitution, you have a right to free speech, but you do not have a right to be protected from the reaction to your free speech.Such a reaction may very well be the church being burnt to the ground by arsonists who took offense to the burning of the Koran on 9/11/10. It is not out of the imagination and many people including myself wouldn't find it surprising to say the least.

That being said, I do not respect or wish anyone that unfortunate circumstance. I don't condone criminal activity as a response to the exercise of free speech.

What I do condone is a mass burning of the Bible during the week of Christmas in front of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, FL. This would be a proper response and a reasonable exercise of freedom of speech.

Little did we know; Chuck Norris has the heart of a selfless pacifist... he keeps it on a shelf in his study.

The guy did say he was willing to not do it, the media is wierd about this, they will provide one quote and no depth doesn't anyone find that odd that there was only one question to report about and that the rest is about explaining perception?

From the one quote from the guy I get that he's more upset at the government than the muslims. He's upset about non-Muslim cultures bending over backwards for Muslims. They have localized prayer spots in areas any other church can never get to. They even have their own prayer chambers in most air ports.

There was a funny comic showing at security check a gaurd was scanning a little kid with this pants down and hands up loose change scattered on the floor around him. Then an obviously disgruntaled muslim guy was walking ahead of him and another gaurd yelled him back saying. "Sir you forgot your box cutter!"

Well I suppose part of the reason for this is because I believe in the major branches of Islam prayer is compulsory at certain times of the day as one of the five pillars. I don't think any other major religion has this compulsory and regular prayer do they?

Wow, this thread really blew up.

All I wanted to do with it, is show how one side is doing nothing more then hurting peoples feelings, and the other side wants to murder people.

Odd that the side being condemned, is the side that's doing nothing more then hurting peoples feelings.

There is no law against hurting your feelings, and there shouldn't be.

wait how is the mosque killing people? unless you mean the the book burning is killing people? But at the start of the thread you thought that it was cleaver so that doesn't make sense...

Unless you are retroactively changing the point of the thread to be about the reaction of Muslims  to the book burning but you can't do that.

Why I thought it was clever, is we have lost the reason this tension exists in the first place. Yes, there are some who are ignorant and think Muslim = Terrorist. But we have gone so far in this country in the media and government to try and correct that perception, that we are starting to lose the fact that a percentage of Muslims are not peaceful people.

What's clever, is that this Church, though the simple act of offending people, has brought this fact back to the forefront.

There are millions of Muslims that in there perfect world, would see the US and it's 300,000,000 people removed from the face of the earth, and we are talking about them again.

That's what's clever.

PS. Unlike our government, I think it's dangerous for the American people to forget they exist.

Why are you singling out muslims? In every religion (and atheïsts as well) there are a number of people who are insane and dangerous.
