I don't quite understand what you're saying. Sorry. I don't have any care to compare 3DS to the other systems, since they're not 3D. You'd need to buy a 3D TV to make any of that happen. I was looking at the disparity between glasses-free 3D and glasses-required 3D. The price of 3D TVs being higher isn't really a factor I seem to find important in this topic. Of course it's more expensive than a tiny handheld? All TVs are.

Your comparing the disparity between a 3000$ TV and a 400$ handheld, not between glasses or not. If the handheld would be glasses and the TV glassless we would still look at similar numbers. People are interest in 3D, glasses or not. Though, dont get me wrong, im not saying people would choose glasses over glassless for the same product at same price.

Alrighty. I'll just compare HD TV to 3D TV ones then. Will that count? Looks like people aren't all that crazy over the current style of 3D TVs.

I forgot to comment on the other sentence as well. You cant compare a handheld with a TV to look at the disparity between glasses and glassless 3D. You need to select 2 similar device. Obviously, at same price, glassless will be a lot more popular. Though im curious about how much consumers would be willing to pay. Lets say, one company release a 3D handheld with glasses at 199$ while 3DS without glasses is at 399$. Im not sure which one would have more sales, what do you think?

Hmm.. is the tech for glass-less 3D really that much more expensive?

Yes thats count, but my analyze is the way around. I find its amazing that it is so close considering the high premium for 3D. People are really interested in 3D nowadays. Thats a good thing, I really like 3D myself, glasses or not, but I will surely prefer getting a glassless 3DTV one day. Between, im a first day 3DS buyer.

No its not at all actually. On small size of screen the glasses would be more expensive than a parallax screen. Im just curious what exactly does being glassless worth for the masses. 3DTV would be a more realistic example since the parallax screen will be more expensive then glasses. What do you think between a 2499$ glasses 3D VS a 3499$ glassless 3D? (im extrapolating the numbers here, I have no idea how much glassless 3DTV will cost and how much glasses 3DTV will be at by that time)

Edit: I guess it also depends of what support both tech will receive, but for the sake of it, lets say its the same support.

If I was going to put money down on a new 3D TV, assuming everything were the same about the TVs (quality, compatability, support) besides the tech, I would definitely shoot for the higher price and get the glassless 3D TV, and I'm a college student with no much cash to my name. That's how important I find it. Being able to move around the room, walk in and out as I please and be able to see in 3D instead of worrying over glasses (and losing those glasses!). It also makes a big difference when having company over. It's just impractical from my standpoint to get one with glasses.

I'm guessing the mass market consumer wouldn't switch over to 3d until the prices of both TVs were cheaper than that, and at that rate, I'm sure the price difference between the two would be less than the extra convenience cost of glassless 3DTV, in other words, I'd expect glassless to definitely win out in the future, even if it's for a premium. That's just my opinion though. What are your thoughts?

Oh yeah me too I expect to see glassless win. I think if the premium is somewhat big, glasses 3DTV could be more popular for a time. But im not sure what this premium will be in reality. If by the time glasses 3DTV are affordable (in the 1000$-1500$ range) and as you suggested the premium for glassless is low, something like 500$, im pretty sure nearly everyone would get glassless or wait a bit for the price to drop. Though, if the glassless 3DTV are over 2500$-3000$ at that time, I think glasses 3DTV will be more popular for a while. The enthusiasts like me and you, would get the 3000$ one while the general consumer would most likely grab the one at 1500$.

I think people are getting more and more genuinely interest in 3D and that many will jump as soon as there is an affordable technology, like the 3DS or cheap 3DTV. In any case, I think that in about 10 years, all display will have glassless 3D as feature. What do you think?
