Forums - Sony - Sony set to have more million sellers than any console after the move?

Just for those who don't care about the definition of "move-titles" or "exclusives" (Come on guys, we spent too much time doing this)

Here are the number of millionsellers for some consoles:

PS2: 222
PS3: 62
Xbox 360: 98
Wii: 83

So the HD twins combined could not match the PS2 in number of million sellers so far.

For move pushing the number of million sellers on the PS3, the PS Move needs to sell at least more than 1 million. Common sense, right? But there is hardly a game with a attach rate of 1 (except Wii Sports in some areas, because of bundles). A attach rate of 0,25 would be quite huge (Halo on the original Xbox for example). So a 4 million userbase is a MUST to create at least SOME million sellers. and remember, some might pick up two PS moves to play with some buddies. Those don't count, because you still buy one game, not two.

So the PS Move won't do anything this year in terms of million sellers. So in early 2011 we MIGHT see the first PS Move million sellers (except the bundled one). To achieve this the PS Move needs to sell 1 million every month, starting today. Actually more than a million, because there are people picking up two controllers for some coop stuff.

The number of million sellers missing to overtake the PS2 is 150. Even if there really IS a 10 year lifecycle, which is stupid PR from both sides, MS and Sony, The PS3 needs to have 25 million sellers every year. Or slighlty more than 2 every month. Or one every 2 weeks. The PS Move won't do the trick. So, no.

And for your interest no console this gen will do this. The Wii has the userbase, but the lack of well-selling 3rd party support.

Of course the Jailbreak on the PS3 won't increase software sales either.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

A fanboy is someone who will sing the praises of a given console/company/etc. indiscriminantly and without any factual grounds.....so.... :/

Anyways, his post really only stated that you have a furious dislike for Sony and their products. Again..... :/

Factual grounds? You should have stopped at "etc."

Anyhow, his comment was ultimately saying my opinions are fueled by me being a fan of the 360.

"And yea Kinect is a revolution despite it's issues cuz it's on da box."

This is the only time he alluded to your fandom. To bring logic into the situation, let's take a look at what you just said. The fact that you're a fan of the 360 has an effect on your opinions, just as my love of pad-thai effects my perception of asian people (love 'em). So even if he was saying your opinions are effected by your fan status, so what?

Good day sir, I'm going to bed.

You shouldn't ever say, "you won't sway my opinion," as a general rule. Close-mindedness will get you nowhere.

Not that it was my intention to change your mind.

The Move is a fresher and quite frankly more technologically sound version of the Wiimote (without a cord on the navtroller) but the key difference is that they have Sony's first party to back it up with software. It's a great way to introduce new gamers to the more intense and demanding titles put out on an HD console. Games like No More Heroes just "feel" better on the PS3.

Kinect is something we haven't seen realized to the extent it is supposedly going to be when it releases. This makes it trendy and interesting, but in the long haul I don't think it will be able to stand up. People will only run in place and wave their arms around in front of their home theater for so long, and they probably won't do it in front of guests because as Mega64 puts it, it makes you "look like a f*cking idiot."

I'm just stating a fact. I know nothing will come out of you that will change my opinion. And from just reading your comment, I was clearly right.

Your comments on the Move are clearly bias and sounds like advertising. You're trying to sell it as a great item for casual gamers, but I think casual gamers can figure out how to work a joystick. A joystick is also free with a PS3 and the standard input device. While the Move is a high priced item and will likely have poor sales.

Trendy and interesting is what put the Wii on top this generation. I'd also argue the Wiimote doesn't work as well as originally advertised, but that doesn't seem to have hurt sales much. Its also a much cheaper option than the PS3 with Move bundle. So people looking for motion technology similar to the Move, might just want the cheaper and original version that's bundled with games.

Looking like an idiot is dumb argument. And more of a reason why the Kinect will be a blast at parties or with drunk friends.

You're trying to argue that I sound like an advertisement when you say stuff like that?

You also cite they Wii's cheapness as a benefit over the Move yet you ignore the even greater expense of Kinect? Don't call me biased and spit out crap like that; I've seen both sides of the argument and come to my own conclusions. How dare you call me biased!

I think that motion controls of any kind are more accessible for non-gamers, and that the Move is the best of the three, after experiencing what the Wii has to offer and watching dev diaries and gameplay videos for Move and Kinect.

You state that a joystick is free with the PS3 and that the Move is an extra expense which will cause it to sell badly, and yet you ignore the fact that this is equally true for Kinect and continue to sing its praises! You are the Oroboros my friend, a snake biting its own tail.

Lets bear in mind I just said Kinect will be a blast with friends. While you went on and on about how "fresh" and cutting edge the Move is. You even spewed crap about how its great for introducting people to intense titles!

It seems the best reason to buy a Move is to play games that are already playable with a joystick. We can assume only a small number of people will buy a Move to play games they already enjoy with a joystick. The Move is clearly intended to bring in a casual audience. But I don't think its unique or "trendy" enough to draw in much people.

Now when I say the Move is expensive, you respond with the Kinect is expensive as well. However, you ignore the Kinect is in huge demand even at its high price. To contrary, there is little demand for the Move. Nobody talks about the Move and its coming really soon.

You are so full of sh*t it's not even believable. At first this argument was kind of fun but now you're just being childish.

Move is fresh because it's new. That's the definition of fresh.

It's cutting edge because it's f*cking new technology.

And, much like the Wii did, it has the potential to absorb a non-gamer market.

Where is this "huge demand" by the way? Provide me some evidence and maybe your points will be worth a damn. Everyone - everyone - I've talked to in person has told me that Kinect looks retarded, while they see the potential in Move, which at this point is all we can talk about since neither has released.

Oh c'mon, don't get angry now. Some people just agree to disagree, why not go that route instead?

You call the Move fresh and cutting edge, but the masses see something awfully similar to something they've seen before. Whilte it's improved, its just looks too similar. I doubt the masses think Eyetoy when they see the Kinect. But I'm positive the masses think Wiimote when they see the Move.

The Kinect is getting a lot of attention from the media while the Move... is rarely mentioned. Which is odd considering it'll be out in about 2 weeks. People around you might be calling the Kinect, "retarded." But atleast they are talking. Everyone around me doesen't talk about the Move because they aren't aware or don't care.

I think the pre-order numbers on this site for Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports gives some indication that there is going to be a big demand for the Kinect. I mean they are still months away and they have higher pre-order numbers than Sports Champion.
