I guess the real mistake in the game is that there actually are buffalos/bisons.

Red dead redemption is set in the year 1911, and at that time there was pretty much not a single bison left in the USA. Within just a few decades in the 19th century, dozens of million bisons were killed, and by 1902 there were only 23 left in whole north America. A guy called George Bird Grinnell saved the species by taking them to a safe area - if it hadn't been for this guy, the bison would have been distinct by 1911.

Those are all bison heads:

That's why there are only 20 buffalos/bisons in the game and you get an achievement/trophy for killing all of them.

Is this true or you're kidding?

Manifest Destiny 5
Kill the last buffalo in the Great Plains in Single Player.

This can only be completed in the Great Plains. You will first need to finish Act 2 to gain access to this area. Make your way to the Great Plains and ride around until you find the Buffalo. They are normally roaming around in the open. To unlock the achievement you need to kill all 20 of the herd. Make sure that you pick off the buffalo from a distance, if they run off don't chase them. Save often and come back to this area every once in a while to kill the odd buffalo you see. Once you kill the last buffalo the achievement will unlock.

Attempting this early on with a less powerful gun can take a while. If you have a sniper rifle use that instead it's a one shot kill on any buffalo.

There is a difference. If you want to associate yourself with people from 100 years ago, start calling your television a "box with moving pictures".

No...you really should stop trying to one-up people by trying to be smarter than them.

As I said, it's more historically accurate to call them buffalo because that's just what people called them.  It doesn't matter that you got a question wrong on some middle school test.

sounds like you need to accept Americans use American colloquialisms in normal everyday speech. There is nothing wrong with calling black a color, or bison buffalo. The only time it is important is when you are dealing with the scientific communities and precision in communication is important. Obviously in a school setting it would be important, but in the real world it doesn't matter.

Besides as was pointed out, Americans called them buffalo, so the game calling them bison wouldn't represent America.

holy shit you just made me puke ! funny

yes the characters in the game use the word buffalo but the game outside the story shouldn't. in other aspects of the game the word usage is different from the characters. but it sounds like you all don't mind like how most americans pronounce "often" without the t being silent

like off-ten instead of just often

This is a pretty funny thread. I'll add that Buffalo wings aren't actually made of Buffalo. O_o
