Metroid other m looks like a great game, probably not perfect. Even on GT they gave it a good review. You even have deals for it with like 20 dollar off.

The wii does suffer from some 3rd party troubles. It's sad, but not the end of the world. There are plenty of games on it. Which ones might be the problem for you. Another console perhaps - a secondhand Xbox360 is not that expensive.

This is just me, but I would never buy a system used if I can get it new--especially in this day an age.  You won't get that 3-year warranty on a second-hand Xbox360.  And keep in mind, all three consoles this generation ran into hardware issues either overheating, melting the casing, RRoDing, or bricking.  The biggest side effect of this generation being so rushed was that nobody got out there issue-free.  My SNES is still infinitly more reliable than my Wii--which has a tendency to just sit there rather than reading discs half the time.

What a surprise, you don't like all the Wii offerings

I don't see what your opinion on those games has to do with this tbh ..

See(ce) what I did thar? I mean hell you recommended a stripped down version of NBA Jam on another console that for right now is only coming with NBA Elite a 60 dollar game he might not even want since he obviously likes the arcade style

Anyway I personally own all the consoles for me I could sustain just owning a Wii and a DS but for the big hyped titles you'll need a HD console, and the one with the best features and most exclusives would be a PS3 and it has games that fit your liking like the FF series.

1. Dragon Quest X is hitting Wii, Final Fantasy IV the After Years is on Wii Ware, The Last Story/Xenoblade is coming next year, otherwise FFXIII and Versus XIII is on PS3 but as far as the Nomura crafted FF games VII is still the best.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is hitting every download service, get it!  As for console Sonic Sonic Unleashed Wii/PS2 versions have day levels designed by Dimps (the guys making StH4) which are amazing and makes those the superior versions.

3. Shinobi... that's a hard void to fill closest thing I could suggest is Ninja Blade on 360 and PC

4. Mortal Kombat there is a bad Wii game with a crap load of content and there's a bad PS3 and 360 version with a lot less content, though the new one has promise and its just for PS3 and 360.  For other 2D fighters I really enjoy Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Marvel vs Capcom 3 is hitting soon.

5. GTA series, IV is on PS3 and 360 period though much more serious than a typical GTA game, if you like top down GTA I highly recommend Chinatown Wars and there's a new Wii Ware game called Retro City Rampage in the same style coming.

6. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit reboot is incoming for all consoles

7. Sonic and Sega all stars racing hit not too long ago and already has a price drop, not the best kart racer but not terrible either.

8. Toe Jam and Earl is another hard void to fill since the series isn't going anymore but the 2D platformer void New Super Mario Bros, A Boy and his Blob, Limbo, and Little Big Planet, platformers in general Super Mario Galaxy 2 period, best 3D platformer ever, the refreshing ideas of Galaxy with much more content and is harder.

9. Road Rash another dead franchise but if you just like killing things while behind the wheel and not exactly taking golf clubs and bats to another biker you can play Twisted Metal on PS3

10. NBA Jam Wii is coming this year, there is the download version coming with NBA Elite but it's not the entire game, if you missed out on the Street series it was essentially NBA Jam in 3D, though the first 3 are what you'd want to pick up and I believe NBA Street 2 or 3 on GC had Mario characters thrown in for a bonus lol

Do you even get my reply? I was telling the OP where those franchises ARE. Not my opinions on other games or even those games, actually read my reply next time Maxwell.

Obviously I did or I wouldn't have saw your comments, really though you were just getting an attitude with a guy trying to make a few recommendations and that isn't cool, no real need for that in the forums, it's kinda stupid and petty, if the guy was like OH DAMN DON'T GET AN HD CONSOLE THEY HAVE NOTHING BUT BAD GAMES STICK TO WII, then I could see some justification, as it stands alfred recommended games of similar styles/genres on a console the OP owns right now, nothing wrong with that, it's like comping an attitude cause a guy isn't satisfied with the 360, he gives a list of things he likes and you try to find games that reflect his tastes on a console he already owns cause that's convenient and doesn't require buying a brand new console.

His post wasn't helpful. It just came across as anti HD with a bunch of Wii alternatives. I actually outlined where the main games of those franchises were.

You're the one with the attitude here maxwell, stop trying to bait me into an argument.

True. But the problem lies more in complexity of all the (spinning) parts than the design. A diskdrive is a sentive thing. When the consoles go digital the reliability will improve vastly.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Have you tried Godfather,Klonoa,No more heroes series,Muramasa the demon blade,Zak & Wiki and Okami?

Hehe sorry I just don't have to resort to getting an attitude nor baiting you, the truth is simply there in plain sight, it's not like you're any sort of threat that I'd have to stoop to subverse methods to make my point clear.  A user can contribute to a thread in whatever way they feel is helpful and constructive, the problem is that you're calling out a guy that actually contributed to the thread for no good reason, no one would question your contributions if you yourself wouldn't call out theirs.

It's just that simple and that's the end of it.

Nah, his post wasn't constructive IMO. He trashed all the games the OP said he liked and offered alternatives, what use of that is that to the OP? My contribuition can't be questioned, I simply told him what platforms those franchises were on (main games) including Mario Kart Wii.

Also refrain from the videos, Scrubs sucks!

Shhhhh....delete this thread quickly if you value your life, because THEY might read this very fast.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Well you said the real version of NFS:HP was coming on the HD consoles, implying a "not real" version would appear on the Wii. Probably you refer to the case of NFS Shift and Nitro, which have different concepts. But this is not the case with this new Hot Pursuit... It's the same concept for the Wii version, only by a different developer.

But then again, maybe you were not referring to a case like that, and you were just giving your opinion on the Wii version. Anyway, this is a gaming forum right? Everyone is entitled to their opinions, be it alfredo or you. Both have the same level of contribution to the thread it seems.

And Scrubs was good :)

True. But the problem lies more in complexity of all the (spinning) parts than the design. A diskdrive is a sentive thing. When the consoles go digital the reliability will improve vastly.

The major hardware problems of this generation have largely had nothing to do with the disk drives--mostly overheating/cooling issues.  Disk drives and readers aren't that expensive, and they are pretty reliable these days--they should be for as long as we've been using them.  And I dread the day everything goes digital.  I don't want all the stuff I paid good money for dependant on a harddrive.  When that generation changes, support for said drive will vanish, and when those games are lost--they're lost for good.  Harddrives never last forever.  Twenty years after Castlevania was released on the NES, the game still plays.  Twenty years after I pay good money to download a game, that harddrive will have long fried itself.

I personally hope there's always some form of physical media.  I barely consider my downloaded stuff to be real games, and I never put as much time into them as I do for a physcial media title.  For instance, one of my Xbox360 games, an Indie title called Zombie Estate--will be useless when the next generation hits because, for some reason, it requires at least a Silver Live connection--which is stupid.  That digital game will be useless in a couple years time.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'm fully against the industry going fully digital.  I'm sure GameStop, and any other retailer making money in the secondary market, will largely be on the same side as me.  Retail has power.  Retail shot down the Saturn when Sega pissed 'em all off.  Just one of the reasons that system struggled to have any kind of foothold.

My opinion.

yeah, sometimes I feel the same way, but honestly I dont have a lot of time to play so I am fine with the games I have...

I recommend you to investigate a little bit more the wii library, there are a lot of good games that you may not be taking in consideration...
