 Cough H1N1 Cough.

You should check into that cough to make sure you don't have swine flu.

I know this is off topic, but H1N1 was a serious issue. I'm usually the first person to spot out when the media is overblowing something, and I'm certainly not as influenced by the media as most. But I also like to think I can judge when something is overblown in the media, and swine flu was a serious case which warranted the media attention.

It wasn't a standard strain of flu, humans had no natural immunity to it, and so it could have spread like wildfire. A person with regular flu will infect one, maybe two, people. But when humans don't have a natural immunity it infects many of the people the infected person comes into contact with. That's why such a big deal was made about prevention. That's why schools closed down and businesses were strict on not letting flu ridden employees come to work, to limit the spread of infection.

In a way, the media hype itself was one of the things that limited its spreading potential, because it made people aware of its existence and that it was dangerous.

I would have been sceptical myself, but I lived with three nurses at the time and they urged me to read up on it when we were talking about it one night, and what I found was that it really wasn't just regular flu, we had to act on it.

Here's thunderf00t explaining more, you really should watch this.

*sigh*... if only they'd release a shitload of records, have them sell millions of copies and then commit suicide. They'd be on "Greatest Religionists of All Time" lists everywhere.

Another reason why all church officials need to be allowed to marry.

Silly silly nonsense

Marriage wouldn't necessarily stop it. I mean, why is it so rare that they molest women, or at least adults?

Marriage would help in the long run, because it may attract more sexually well-adjusted people, but wouldn't fix the existing priesthood.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Its irrelivant that they're less likely to commit rape. Why everyone is so pissed off is because the church is suppose to be an organisation that holds itself up to higher moral standerds (yeah I knw LOL), Its the hypocracy of it and of course the cover ups.

Judging peope all the time and then doing bad things yourself. Not cool!

H1N1 wasn't very serious. It killed less people then the regular flu.

lol so true

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

A culture can not be expected to change so quickly, maybe give them another thousand years or more.

Marriage would help in the long run, because it may attract more sexually well-adjusted people, but wouldn't fix the existing priesthood.

They molest children because they "don't know" what just happened to them, best chance at keeping it a secret and they are right, I'm sure most of the cases we DO know of is a minority of what is happening out there. The idea of looking for sex as a normal person with a fake identity is much work and a frightful road.

Also, it might seem that more boys are being molested but the truth is the cases involvoving girls don't get the international attention the cases with boys do. There is also the fact that a lot of self-loathing homosexuals seek to become a priest for an easy way out of marriage and judgement from their families. These two things help explain the ratio of boys and girls being molested.

So yes, allowing priests to date and marry will change all this. Priest are human, every male masterbaits 2 or moretimes a week. If males don't masterbait, sperm would be slowly oozing out of the penis.

And you are right, if they changed this it wouldn't really have an impact right now, but I see that as little importance as it will change everything for the better in the future.

H1N1 was always a joke, and way overblown by the media. When you compared the projected number of infections and death tolls of the worst case scenario, H1N1 was only ever projected to be a moderately worse strain of the influenza virus than what we were used to.

Why it was so universally over-blown is simple, the news media thrives on making people afraid and never putting information into perspective. Much like how a kidnapping 300km away will (often) be used to instil fear in parents to ensure that they watch the evening news "to learn how to protect their children against these dangers", the H1N1 virus was used simply to boost ratings.

Probably not.

If the Catholic church can't bring itself take a zero tolerance policy toward the rape of children, how do they reckon they have the moral standing to condemn anything else?
