If we're talking about the traditional 2D Metroid, then it's looking that way (although from what I've seen, Other M isn't really a traditional 2D Metroid to begin with).

Also, let's not forget all of the Metoid-Vanias that have come out this gen.

Logged and registered. I'm pretty sure i've got everything so far that's given a score (Ars Technica, N-sider.com, and MTV did not, which is sad because they all gave it pretty strong ratings)

Other M seems to be a game that leads to very divergent opinions -- especially among sites that tend to cater to more "hardcore" gamers. 

Game Informer US gave it a 6.5, G4 gave it 2-out-of-5.

Meanwhile, Giant Bomb gave it 4/5.

Essentially, it seems as if some elements that are of the "love it" or "hate it" quality.

Which means you have to check it out and make a decision for itself.
