Forums - Nintendo - The Last Story focuses on Game Design over Narrative

I like this approach.

Around the Network

Yes gameplay is the most important aspect of that genre.

But then again the story is what makes it so memorable.

Pokemon is a beg exception

this is good to here

Awesome! Now this is how games should be made. I can't wait to play it!

Around the Network

I beilieve this will be my next first day purchase after Civ 5 (unless Diablo or Zelda come out first).

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Sounds like Sakaguchi's following Nintendo's A-game tactics now that they're publishing his game: Make the game first, and then build a story around it.

this approach seems a bit weird. im sure it will turn out fantastic but he shoulda just focused on both

Do you know why JRPG's from the SNES era are stilled help in hi regards? because they followed this same format. This is the perfect way to create a a grand RPG, JRPG's that focus on super realistic graphics and over convoluted story lines and a abundance in CGI are always lacking.

But i never said he shouldnt focus heavily on the gameplay im just saying it seems like hes giving less focus on the story at least from what i read. I thought he was focusing on them equally though theres nothing wring with this approach. Also i dont like most snes era jrpgs so that may be a factor. Though as good as he is I beleive he can focus on both and do great.

Well they said Xenoblade was going back to he roots of RPGs too though and look how that turned out (most people  saying it has good gameplay, story, characters, music, etc.). I wouldn't worry too much...

Yea i suppose your right then if xenoblade focused on a similiar strategy i shouldnt have any worry's for the last story.

This is excellent news.  A wide open universe should be created first, then a story should be written within it.

I just want it!~
