Forums - Sales Discussion - NPD YTD and Lifetime sales to July 2010

21M in US probably 21.2M by now but only August numbers will tell us that...

Ps3 above 13M this month aswell...

VGC pretty accurate... Last time i checked Canada number Wii was over 1.2M 360 was at 800K and Ps3 at 450K. 2 years ago so now 360 should be well over 1.2M , Wii at 2M and Ps3 at 750K.

And by the numbers of Mexicans i see on Live and we all know Meximo is a very strong place for Xbox Brand special 360 .

DS – 42,196,558
Wii – 29,793,981

Xbox 360 – 20,999,386
PSP – 17,520,836
PlayStation 3 – 12,934,196

DS - 6,299,364 (13%)

Wii - 4,662,938 (13.53%)

Xbox 360 - 3,424,100 (14%)

PS3 - 1,806,236 (12.25%)

PSP - 2,141,436 (10.9%)

Going by the latest chartz these are the numbers and percentages of consoles and handhelds in the rest of America. NPD data is probably some weeks old though, but still interesting.

Impressive how the Playstations have lost ground in traditional Sony markets (most of LA and Brazil).

Or... have they?

These numbers are only to the end of July. It's actually:

DS - 6,061,991 (12.56%)

Wii - 4,516,954 (13.16%)

360 - 3,183,142 (13.16%)

PS3 - 1,678,704 (11.48%)

PSP - 2,062,380 (10.53%)

And it's basically been pretty firmly established that we're undertracking the PS3 in Canada and Latin America based on PES 2010 and God of War 3 sales. Based on ioi's post here:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3149828

Our Latin American install base stands at around 625k-650k right now, which through process of elimination puts Canada at just over 1 million. But God of War 3 has sold over 250k in Canada. There's NO WAY a single player only game can achieve more than a 25% or maybe even close to 30% attach ratio. Even MW2 hasn't managed that. Based on Brazilian sales GOW3 is somewhere around 15%-20% attach ratio and PES 2010 is likely in the 20%-25% range. :edit: Something else interesting to note, Sony has stated that they expect GT5 to perform even better in Latin America than GOW3 (~100k currently). This will be the first GT game officially released in South America. What do you think it could do in LA lifetime? 200k? 300k?

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Ps3 super undertracked in Americas! 1.805M is US by NPD but only 1.806M in Americas ?? i Mean by the end of july ONLY 1.605M... WTF ?

360 numbers look fine.

man wii seems to be in trouble worldwide. selling less than 20k/week in japan and ~250k/month in usa.

x360 yoy is crazy, given no price drop. but the hd consoles are definitely showing a different pattern than wii now.

It's over 25k pr week in Japan.
It's over 280k per month in NA.

And the X360 did receive a price cut to $149.99, not to forget a new slim console model.

You're talking about clearance of old models, not a true price drop.

Actually in Japan it has only been over 25k once in over twenty weeks. And usually been at or sub 20k a week. Nice try.

And it is under 280k a month in NA for this year. Nice try again.

And the clearence on the older models is not what has been causing the boost, so the 360s that are selling have not recieved a pricecut.

Japan past 20 weeks = 441,232.  A weekly average of 22, 061.  Meaning that several weeks were above 25k.  Not just 1 time.  As you say, nice try,

NA yearly total = 3,747,511.  A monthly average of 468k.  As you say, nice try.

Can you verify with absolute proof the sales ratio of X360 models to back up your statement?  Or are you just making it up to support your claim?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

PS3 is really undertracked in Brazil. GoW III sold more than 50k in a few weeks there's no way there's only 600k PS3 for the whole South America.

But war... war never changes

The clearnace sale almost certainly created a boost.  If you think the entire boost is just the 360s and wasn't the big reductions on the old model you are almost certainly wrong.

I've seen conflicting estimates of the split, and the 360s definately contributed to the boost a fair bit, but the clearance must have, too.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
