It's really impressive to see how much 360 and PS3 are up YOY. They're both definitely going to be up overall for the year in the USA. Hard to say where Wii will end up. It's obviously going to be down for the year, it's just a question of how much. Pretty depressing declines for both of the handhelds but DS still dominates.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Not really.

NPD's numbers are for the USA alone. VGC numbers are for all America. Not just the US.

Hmmm, NPD and Nintendo's internal tracking don't agree with each other.

man wii seems to be in trouble worldwide. selling less than 20k/week in japan and ~250k/month in usa.

x360 yoy is crazy, given no price drop. but the hd consoles are definitely showing a different pattern than wii now.

Xbox 360 - 3,424,100 (14%)

PS3 - 1,806,236 (12.25%)

PSP - 2,141,436 (10.9%)

Going by the latest chartz these are the numbers and percentages of consoles and handhelds in the rest of America. NPD data is probably some weeks old though, but still interesting.

Impressive how the Playstations have lost ground in traditional Sony markets (most of LA and Brazil).

Or... have they?

It's over 25k pr week in Japan.
It's over 280k per month in NA.

And the X360 did receive a price cut to $149.99, not to forget a new slim console model.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

360 and PS3 are up because they both got new models and didn't have these in the same timeframe last year. PS3 could be down YoY come Q4, and Microsoft will be up. Both will fall next year.

Nintendo is lacking due to lack of any good software. They will still be down because of New Super Mario Bros Wii in 2009. This doesn't mean they wont do well and will certainly be ahead of the other two.

I have to disagree here. There comes a time when a market is just saturated. There are 308 million US Americans and 42 million Nintendo DS were sold. That means that almost 14% of all US Americans own a Nintendo DS.

So if you are American: Go to a popular place like a shopping mall, football match or whatever. Look at the people and realise more than every 8th already owns a Nintendo DS.

The DS still has 2 years in it and will sell even with the 3DS on the market. IMO Nintendo timed the release of the 3DS perfectly.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
