Forums - Sony - Demon's Souls questions

question 1 and 2 actually answer each other.  The only real benefit of being in soul form is that you can't be invaded, while the white souls and blood stains and everything still appear.

fraid I don't know no. 3 though.

what class are you playing?

I'm renting this game thus have no manual.  The wiki isn't very clear on some things so got a couple questions.

1.  What are the benefits to playing as a soul?  I read if you die the world doesn't shift towards black tendancy but I'm running about in body form for 4 worlds in a row now without dying (difficulty is overated!) and I rather like playing in my body since I don't need use cling ring and can use a better one.

You do more dmg in Soul form (but have less life)

You do not lose WT (it does not go towards black) when you die, which it does if you are alive.

You cannot be invaded but you also cannot bring someone else in your game.

2.  Invaders...besides playing as a soul or disconnecting and re-connecting when one invades how do I avoid them while keeping online features like messages and bloodstains/white phantoms?  I just want to play the game and not get dragged into PVP.

This one was answered.  Stay a soul if you do not want to PVP or stay disconnected.

3. Has Europe had any upcoming world events announced?

no idea

'Make it up as I go along' class.

No real strategy or planning, I started a Royal and most of my fighting is done sword and shield, though I often switch to magic attacks for certain enemies.  If I find an item that seems cool I use it.

Battlemage maybe?

no wonder the game's difficulty is overrated. You're basically on "casual" difficulty.
Demon's souls difficulty level is primarily based on class.

:D

2. There is a spell you can get the banishes invaders from your world. I think it's actually called banish. Also, wearing the thief ring and casting the spell Cloak makes you invisible you invaders.

3. I think the Demon's Souls wiki announces upcoming events.

This does not make sense.  Because I use items I find I'm playing casual?    I seem to have been playing RPGs wrong for years...

Thanks for replies everyone.

Oh, I guess I messed up and left something out above.

Royal, is the beginner class.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

The game is never really "easy" so to speak but everyone's been saying for a while now that choosing Royal class generally makes the game a lot easier for new players. Look back in some DS threads [though that would be alot of work, DS threads of past were extremely long] and you'll notice that there's a ton of people saying the game wasn't difficult early on when they chose Royal and people recommending Royal for beginners. Temple Knight's also considered a pretty good for beginner's but Royal is definitely number 1.

For what?  World 1-1 maybe?   I mean I found a bunch of stuff that make up what other classes start with so presumably they'd have found what the royal gets.

Does not excuse going 5 worlds now without a death.

If you had a manual you would know that difficulty level is based on class.

It doesn't matter what equipment you found.

argument over.

I'm sorry but I've searched the net and nowhere does it say that.  World/player tendency does according to everything I find, including the wiki.

I know I looked for it too. I have a scanner at home and I can scan it for you if you'd like :P

I know the classes are capable of changing past 1-1, but if you stick with the class royalty really is the most powerful of all of them. Mages and ranged classes in general are the best.

Ranged, especially magic, is way OP.

But either way, congrats. That is an achievement considering all the pitfalls and hidden traps there are. If played carefully, it isn't that hard, just know that when a lot of people talk about how hard it is, they are playing straight melee classes, which is both difficult and tedious.
