End of 2010 prediction - made Jan 11th 2010      Wii - 84M, ps3 - 43M, 360 - 46M

Looks like the prediction is a bit off, but I guess its pretty hard to guess ?

So in the next 5.5 months to meet that prediction:

The 360 ( @ 42.2 million now )  has to sell 4 million more consoles

The PS3 ( @ 36.9 million now ) has to sell 6 million more consoles

the Wii ( @ 73.2 million now ) has to sell over 10 million consoles..

You might be close on the 360, I dont think the PS3 will hit that target, and the Wii I'm even more doubtful about because its sales have really slowed alot..

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has sold over a million units in EMEAA now.

No problemo.

Anyway overall it looks like both good and bad sales.

Overall the entire market looks like its down in terms of overall unit numbers and revenue. This implies that we're in the tail end of the generation. Im sure the 3DS will revitalise things on the handheld front but that probably won't do any favours to the PSP.

The PS3 has both good news and bad news. The good news is that it is doing well relative to the Wii and its still up in comparison to last year however the bad news is that its down from where it ought to be relative to its own sales. The PS3 ought to be about 15-25% up on last year given the fact that Sony ought to be recieving about as much hardware revenue post price cut as it is pre price cut.

The Wii is pretty much all bad. Relatively speaking the Wii's sales are still good when taken on their own. However they aren't good when taken against how well the Wii had done previously and especially not good when considering the fact that Nintendo had a 20% price cut last year towards the end.

The Xbox 360 is the only console up both in terms of hardware revenue and unit sales. However the jury is still out here as to whats going on with the hardware revision in terms of long term market impact. Im still taking a wait and see approach to the Xbox 360. The sustained strength of the hardware revision sales can only really be taken as a good sign. However the question of whats going on in terms of software sales is still an open question.

Tease.

Super great legs for DQIX! I'm glad the series is expanding.

Also, why is Sniper: Ghost Warrior so popular?

PS3 is down!??!?!?

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

So is this the first time PS3 has been down year over year since the price cut/new model then?

So if the sales target set for the PS3 by Sony this year was in the balance (going by the numbers on VGChartz), I take it that it seems more realistic after these adjustments.
