Preview for ps3 is a bit off the mark, same for 360

So not that far away from real.

I don't want this comment to come off as negative, but I'm just wondering what it is that is pushing PS3 sales so much in Japan recently. Software wise it has been mostly DS/PSP, and some Wii games. I know this week is a holiday but with only 1 game in the top 20, yet it still got a nice size holiday boost. Are there just tons of PS3 games outside the top 20 selling a few thousand each week that are pushing PS3 sales or have the multimedia functions of the system become more popular, or is it something else?

I think it is the first time in japan, that ps3 outsold the wii during a holiday boost, without a big game.

It's amazing how the DS is still setting new records and destroying the competition even with a new system weeks away from launch. People don't give this system the credit it deserves.

I'de hazard a guess that DS could finish around the 35M mark, and 160M worldwide, if 3DS doesn't come out this xmas then DS will continue to dominate.  Well the DS is the best gaming device ever and abotu to be the best selling game device ever, when it tops PS2 this November ( 136.6M),

PS3 has no games releasing lately, and people in Japan take longer to buy software (almost every console launching there starts with a sub-1 attach rate) and PS3 should have plenty of games in the used bucket already. While piracy in Japan is almost non-existent there is a big used game market there. Since the NES days people have stopped of storing games there.

It's also the PS3 white effect. And i think it is getting a big game soon, Another Century. that should perform well. The PS3 looks like it will outperform the Wii for quite a bit now, until the Dk/kirby combo hits. Last Story should also perform well and give the wii a lift.

Wii Party gets a 50% boost and sells 124,000 units... what gives? O_o

Also, DS sales are stupid. Stupid awesome. Seriously, that handheld is ridiculous.

Pretty good sales all around. DS nearing 31 million which is pretty incredible when you think about size of the whole population in Japan. Most of sales nowadays are  probably upgraders though (lite being the least sold model even though it is cheapest). Still incredible. PSP sales also passed 15 million and it will probably overtake GBA in Japan in lifetime sales. Awesome sales for PSP also.
