Forums - Sony - Woah, GT5P at 5 million!?

I wonder if it will see a sales spike or a sales decline after GT5 releases

How high can this game get to?

Depends on how many delays the final game gets.

I think the offical release is a sales killer.

Exactly, GT5 prologue will effectively be dead in sales once GT5 launches.

But then, the whole god damn world will buy GT5.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

5 Million for prologue is impressive indeed. I'll buy after GT5 comes out, either once it's cut price new, or if the price stays at the "normal" Platinum price I'll buy used.

Well, I think GT5 can easily double GT5P sales so 10 million for GT5 is looking pretty good.

What was it in the March quarter? Anyone remember?

Will be interesting to see how many it's sold between now and then. And how many it can continue to sell between now and November

All the "sales" below are numbers of units that Polyphony Digital sold to retailers (or to consumers via PSN):

GT5 Prologue sales as of december 2009: 4.65 million units
GT5 Prologue sales as of june 2010: 4.95 million units

GT PSP sales as of december 2009: 1.80 million units
GT PSP sales as of june 2010: 1.96 million units

GT4 sales as of december 2009: 10.98 million units
GT4 sales as of june 2010: 11.06 million units

GT4 Prologue sales as of december 2009: 1.35 million units
GT4 Prologue sales as of june 2010: 1.40 million units

I think GT5 will have an Uncharted 2-like effect on GT5P and sales will spike one final time before GT5 releases so I think it could get to about 5.5 million.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Just goes to show some of the benefits of Sony bringing the PlayStation to new markets.

It's reasons like that why GTA: San Andreas, for example, is constantly in the top 200 WW Software lately.

I like that GT4 has surpassed 11 million world wide.. and my end up around 11.3 or 11.4 million LTD..

GT psp may end up as high as 2.5 million or 3 million depending on how long PSP stays on the market...

and GT5 prologe surely can surpass 6 million.. GT5 may get well ahead of 10 million
