@ Squilliam

I think that's a pretty good point about who may be buying the new 360s.

another good point is who is buying new 360s and no games

Personally I suspect the second hand market has a lot to answer for. If you are buying a console this late in the generation and it is not bundled then the sales pitch almost inevitable slides to the second hand market. Bascially it is very easy to buy lots of titles but have none show up in software sales.

You win.

I don't own a PS3, but if I did have money for one right now (wish I did), would I hit up the full price new games or the games from years past that were great that I missed out on 2nd hand?  See above comment.

The fact is that the HD consoles are at their peak now (or close to it). Wii is not.

Yes the console that costs $299 (its cheapest model) is "close to its peak" or "has reached it" but the much cheaper one hasn't.

LMAO

Wii isn't at it's peak? :S I can't see it gaining back it's former glory tbh, I think the Wii has peaked, not the HD consoles.

Some people need interpretation classes. He meant that Wii sales have ALREADY peaked, not that they will peak from now on.

you need to read it again

I see "doomed" as on a downward spiral. Noway back to where it once was. Pretty much already past its peak and will now face a continued decline. Sales decreasing every year until well... Yeah.

@Metallicube.

How can you say the HD consoles have reached there peak but the Wii hasn't?

Erm, but then... it would be accurate to call the Wii doomed, would it not? Or for any console past its peak.

I'm only clarifying this because I see people like M.U.G.E.N. constantly bring up how "only Nintendo fans say the Wii is doomed," when you obviously don't actually need to say "doomed" to proclaim "doom". Okay, I think I'm done with "doom" for now...

Lastly, at your theory of DS versions leading to high Wii sales - that still doesn't help us much. Particularly because those DS games (MKDS, NSMB), well, they're both kind of in the 20 million range. If DKCR puts up those numbers, I doubt anyone would be disappointed with it...

people like me say it cuz it's true..the moment somebody say hey look ps3 is close in sales this week or hey look 360 is way ahead this week than wii in sales Ninty fans come in and say so wii is doomed now? and yada yada yada...people like you can come and spin it all you want but right now it's you guys are doing it no one else..and for the record no I don't think wii is doomed by any means  :) it's rather funny tbh it's OBVIOUS that wii isn't doing as well as it used to and the HD twins are doing way better than they used to and hence such comments come up, I don't think anyone of those thought of hey maybe wii is going downhill now on and will end up dead soon..it just means the competition is brining the heat and wii might have a tougher holiday period than the usual...but oh well that's all I have to say about it, I'm tired as it is discussing about it in that other thread

No it wouldn't... Unless you are 100%v positive the Wii is going to be down every year from here on. It's peak could have been it's 2nd year. And it's 4th year could be bigger than it's 3rd (as an example). Sure, it would be past it's peak, but that doesn't mean it would be on a constant decline.

DK putting up those numbers is a BIG if IMO... Guess we will see though.

Oh... and c0rd.

The whole reason why the DS version of Mario Kart should be counted in your comparison is well...

Because it was the DS that was a major catalyst in making the Wii version as big as it is. The same goes for NSMB DS helping out NSMB Wii.

DK hasn't had a proper game released for YEARS. It also doesn't have the advantage of having a big selling game on the DS like MKWii and NSMBWii had.

Everything points at it being nowhere near as big as NSMB Wii on both hardware moving capabilities and the number the game will actually sell.

DKC will sell at least 10 million units. The series is very popular, as the sales of SNES show. There is a lot of pent up demand for the game, as the last DKC game hasn't come out in over a decade. It is also the type of game that appeals to lots of people, simple side scrolling platformer.

In response to your other post, I should have clarified. What I meant was, Wii is PAST its peak, while the HD consoles are not.

it was very popular,it isn';t now

"as the sales of snes show"...............................lol

you know people forget games after 15 years and alot of the gamers today didn't even play snes

Wii's most likely saturating now. Seems like 360, PS3, and Wii sales will be level with each other for the rest of the gen.

In other words, prepare for a couple boring years.

You make it sound like it's guaranteed to sell 10 Million. It's not. Not at all. No DK game has ever sold over 10 Million units. And the last DKC game on the SNES sold 3.5 Million units...

The DKC games on the Gameboy Advance failed to break 2 Million units.

DK64 managed just over 5 Million units.

I don't see how you think it's 100% on to sell 10 Million units. It's like me saying Gran Turismo 5 is 100% sure to sell 15 Million units because of "pent up demand".

I read. He sait that at this present moment of year 2010 the PS3 and SBOX360 are peaking. Then he says that the Wii, at this present moment of the year 2010, isn't at it's peak. He didn't specifie if the Wii peak was in the past or in the future, but looking at the sales, I though that anyone could see that it has already happened in 2008.

Also, where is Rolstoppable? I haven't seen him in ages. Is he dead?

Above: still the best game of the year.
