I know a few people that have simply gotten tired of waiting for the game to release. I mean it's been years so some people may have lost interest. However I don't think those few people will effect the sales.

I too am concerned, but from what i've seen GT dosent necessarily sell loads in the first 2 weeks. what i mean is that COD, Halo etc will sell more in the first few weeks. but GT has titanic legs. i think part of that 15m who bought GT3 moved to Forza, so yes we could be in for a dissappointing release. not even modern warfare 2 has sold 10m on PS3.
even if it dosent sell 10m, sony will have other chances to reach that 10m with other franchises, at the moment its still a battle to get more consoles into peoples living rooms, i think about 8 mil is right. and if the game sells a lot of consoles, then it could well shoot past 10m.
I don't know if sales will be disappointing, but considering how long it's been in development and all the work put into the game, I think there's absolutely no chance it will be a financial success - even with fantastic sales it will most probably not even cover the development costs.
I always believed Gran Turismo to attract to a very small audience by the way, because it's so extremely focussed on realism. I played GT5 prologue, and I found it so hard and challenging that Forza 3 felt like Mario Kart in comparison.

the development costs are $60m
they have already been covered by GT5 Prologue
are you out of ur mind that you think it won't be a financial success.GT games always attreact big audiences but mostly hardcore gamers
Looks at GT5P sales...I think GT5 will do just fine :)
GT5P is closing in on 5 million with downloads. And pre order wise GT5 is right up there with call of duty, which will of course overtake it significantly but that series is very front loaded while GT has legs for miles. GT5 will do ten million, with sales similar to GoW3 in the americas, though with even better legs.
