Forums - Sony - Why so much PS Plus Hate?

After reading a lot of posts about PS+ on diffrent forums, I don't quite understand why people are hating on it so much.

It has not broken any promises made (yet) as we have gotten out PSOne games and minis and big games (critter crunch and wipeout HD so far).

In the fine print of PS+ and WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD THE FREAKING GAMES you are told that any of the free content is only valid as long as your subscription lasts, so there really isn't any confusion as to how long you get to play those free games.

I will say that the game trial is cool but the games offered for it are pretty old (though I do like seeing full games as being downloadable now). I will also say that the content and discounts offered so far may not be up everyone's alley but so far it has only been a month.

Even without any of the discounts and add-ons, PS+ users have still gotten Wipeout HD, Critter Crunch and Syphon Filter to use for 3 or 15 months for the cost of their subscription (there are other games too, I'm just listing the more high profile ones).

Assuming the other 14 months go in a similar fashion as this one, PS+ users will basically have 15 pretty great PSN games, another 15 or so good ones and maybe 10 good PSOne classics. The length of time that people have access to these games will vary from 1 - 15 months, but still, an average of 8 months of unlimited access to 20-30 great games (probably a whole lot more plus all of the discounts) isn't worth $50 to the current PS+ subscribers?

Obviously if you don't game that much and wouldn't have time or desire to play through the games then it would be a waste of money for you, but PS+ isn't targeted at those users anyway.

So, where does the PS+ hate come from only a month in? Sony hasn't gone back on any promises (even with updates every 2 weeks now, you just get more content every 2 weeks) nor have they tricked anyone with the game "rentals."

Maybe peeps on the interwebz just like to rage?

... because if you already have wipeout and critter crunch (as many ps3 fanatics do) then the service is worthless.

for people like me who didn't have it the service is great but still,... it's not for everyone.

It was never marketed to be for everyone and yeah, if you already had wipeout and CC, then no dice on those (I already had CC), but I would assume that no single person has all games that will be offered on PS plus over a whole year.

I'm assuming that over 95% of all PS subscribers will be getting at least 5 free games that they didn't already have plus at least 5-10 discounts that they would want to use.  It might be a bad assumption eventually, it's just weird to see so much vitrol over PS plus after less than a month of availability.

I'm just not really happy, with it being more like rental service. If those games existed on my hard drive forever, I would love it.

I don't think its "creative" enough. I mean there is definately more better ways to spend your money.

Unless they churn out better multiplayer games, this isn't getting much marketing, only with the internet fanboys.

I don't hate it, in fact it is awesome. I mean makingmusic has a ps plus account, and his approval is the most important thing i take into consideration. It's not like he pays money for games that he plays for 45 minutes before giving up forever. Nope. He never wastes money ever, and says it's awesome, so buy ps plus.

I don't have PS Plus but I think that people complaining about not being able to keep $500-$800 or more worth of free stuff for only $50/year is ridiculous.

Some people are just expecting WAY too much.

People pay ~$200 or more a year for Gamefly I don't hear them bitch about not being able to keep the games unless they keep the subscription going.

You paid $50 for the year and if you paid last month you already got Sam and Max which goes for ~$30 as well as Wipeout which goes for ~$20. On top of that you get free avatars, dynamic themes and so much discounted shit, and you STILL have 13 months to go!!!

The service from what I have seen is an absolute steal.

I posted this the other day.

US PS Plus subscribers got $148 worth of free and/or discounted shit in the first month alone. If they paid for the 15 month subscription ($50 for 12 months and 3 free) you are looking at a possible $1500-$2000 worth of shit within the span of your measely $50 investment.

It is time to stop bitching like spoiled brats.

I have been adding ~$10 to my PSN account per week and/or every two weeks to try and save up to pay for this. I don't tend to replay games very often and if I can nab myself 12 or more PSN titles, 24 minis and 12 PS1 titles to play for just $50 I am all over it.

It is not like my trophies will vanish from those PSN games when my subscription expires, and I also wanted Sam and Max for a while now and if I grab PS Plus this month I will get it along with an additional 11 months of free shit as well.

I love the PSN Plus but I'm a new PS3 user (since March)... for this I know a lot of good games who I would never play without PSN Plus.
