Forums - Gaming - Battlefield 3 coming to the consoles!

Electronic Arts has announced that the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor will come with an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta. That comes on top of the weapons, ammo and camoflauge that the Limited Edition already offers. The offer is contingent on the beta coming within 12 months of the release of Medal of Honor. As that game launches on October 12 in North America, you can expect the beta to take place sometime in 2011.

This also comes as the first official announcement of Battlefield 3, which was previously only confirmed to be in development during financial talks. Battlefield 3 will apparently come to Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. Xbox Live Gold membership will be required for access to the Battlefield 3 beta on Xbox 360.

The other Limited Edition pack-ins include the MP-7 and two special shotguns. The PS3 version will include the full game Medal of Honor Frontline, remastered in HD. All Limited Edition versions are listed at a price of $59.99 in the US, suggesting that EA is following a plan similar to what it did for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where all new copies bought at or near launch included the bonus content.

Great news!

I'm happy it's so close to release that they're talking beta already. Plus it's great it's coming to consoles.

No matter what the haters said about dumbing down and console adaptation I think Bad Company 2 was awesome on PC.

The main thing BC2 lacked was big maps and jets. But thats perfectly doable on consoles too.

Yeah I think they were mad that it was very close to the console version

I'm starting to fear it'll be another BC2 mod....

quite possible

They saw how much more money they can make with a console release. Pretty sure Bad Company 2 is easily the best selling Battlefield title. Wouldn't be surprised if it did another million this year on consoles only.

At least this time they won't see my money. Learnt my lesson.

Not much of a surprise, they want to make more money for their investements

Fuck no, normally I don't have problems with console/pc releases, but come on please let this be more like Battlefield 2. Dammit this was my most anticipated FPS after Reach. I haven't lost all hope but this certainly doesn't do any good. And yes I enoyed Bad Company 2 on PC, but it isn't the real deal.

Considering how popular BF2 still is, I'm not sure there's actual need for a console version. That said, it won't hurt the sales (and profit). It will "only" hurt the quality.

I was never a fan of BF2's but I've enjoyed the demos of both Bad Companies. Still, I feel they could have been much better on PC if they just were real PC games. It's pretty hard to bring the console versions close enough to the PC version and if that's not possible, it's unfortunate how often the PC version will get nerfed instead so that "every version is equally good". Console gamers clearly enjoy their slightly simplified version, which no doubt is still good, but PC gamers want more since they know it's possible.

Just saying that console version are usually good but the PC version should be even better.

I never played Battlefield 2 but was it fun?
