Because both the price and NSMB Wii came out quite awhile ago. A game can only carry a console sales for so long, even one as popular as Mario.

Price cuts do little to boost hardware long term, particularly Nintendo hardware.

But the boosts that NSMB Wii gave it should be reinvigorated once DKC Returns comes out, coupled with the huge holiday boosts that generally affect Nintendo hardware moreso than others.

Wii being down is normal at this point in its life. I believe it is still outpacing PS2 sales. As I said, the HD consoles would also be down had they not had slim models.

Why is that even a question? New Super Mario Bros Wii launched almost 9 months ago. In the meantime PS3 has had Baynonetta, Darksiders, MAG, Danté's Inferno, Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, Super Street Fighter IV, Red Dead Redemption and Modnation Racers*. In the same period Wii has had Super Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Sin and Punishment 2* and Red Steel 2*. It's so puzzling....

It has had barely any significant releases this year and it's STILL selling more than PS3.

Well the DS has taken it's spot back. The 360 is still posting great numbers for it's age and time of year. It looked to be dying a few months ago but the 360S has reinvigorated sales. If MS can keep this up until September then they should be sitting pretty at the start of next year. All this momentum will be needed against PS3 when GT5 releases.

lol really now? so sMG2, sin and punishment, Monster hunter, red steel2 etc aren't big releases? :P sure...man I can't imagine what the BIG ones will be like then

So basically... What you are saying is... Wii has no games (compared to PS3)?

I don't get why everybody here acts like PS3 has all these amazing games.. It has very few that look interesting to me.

Since NSMB Wii, Wii has had No More Heroes 2, Endless Ocean 2, Trauma Team, Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Sin and Punishment 2, Red Steel 2, Arc Rise Fantasia. I wouldn't call that "no games." Problem is, most of these games just aren't system sellers. This coupled with the slow summer months account for the relatively stagnant Wii sales.

However, DKC Returns, Wii Party, Epic Mickey, Goldeneye, and Kirby DO have the potential to be system sellers, which is why I think Wii sales will ignite again around late September- October when the holiday season starts to get going.
