Yes, some huge MS fan knows more than SONY about how much SONY'S products are selling and how much SONY should be shipping.

I agree, it's really kinda pathetic too. Sony released there numbers, it is what it is and it doesn't matter if some guy named "Reach" doesn't believe them.

360 is kicking ass right now with the new design and no PS3 fan change that. But PS3 is still doing good and improving and no 360 fan can change that either...

Yes.

Sony can't just ship and ship and ship if no-one is buying, because the retailers will tell them to piss off.

The 'real' gap is now less than 3m consoles - not bad.

Why don't you just leave the site if you don't believe the numbers.

If I was ioi I'd ban the lot of you that make petty arguments and go around insulting the numbers that are provided foc on here.

People crying that one console gets more favourable adjustments than another should be perma banned, you're acting like children.

I was perma banned before for questioning numbers, but if you claim that sometimes VGC numbers aren't questionable then you are in denial.

I understand these numbers are free, so am grateful for weekly data. You CANNOT however act like this site numbers are more accurate than official shipment data.

Every time someone questions VGC numbers it is because:

- They are questionable

- They strive for this site to have the best numbers

No they aren't the only reasons.  You forgot, the numbers don't fit the posters agenda or desires.

There is quite a trend on this site that the ONLY group of fans that constantly question the numbers are Sony fans, thats fact and it's very tiring over time.

I agree that sometimes the shipment data doesn't correlate to VGC numbers but they're not in any way shape or form 2 million out right now, if you think that then you're frankly nuts.  I have no issue with people who wish to contribute in some shape or form to sensible discussion regarding the numbers on this site but can you answer the following question.  Is saying the site is biased and only ever adjusts the 360 numbers and rarely PS3 numbers either logical or reasonable debate?  This site has a huge skew of Sony fans on it, there is no way it could ever be considered biased to the 360 in any way, shape or form.

They were 1M out before...

Lol, I haven't even questioned VGC numbers much here. I'm just saying that Sony can't just ship and ship however they feel.

There is a signficant difference between 1 million and 2 million...

You did question the numbers, thats fact.

I never said Sony could ship and ship but they could stuff the channels very easily as I suspect has happened.  Ultimately half a million is a reasonable error margin when discussing these figures might I add also.  Finally, you're entitled to your opinion on the figures and debate them as you please, just try and be objective when dismissing others views.  There is more than just 360 fans being silly in this thread.

I have only pointed out stupidity.

Infact, it is impossible to 'overship' in regards to the manufacturer, unless there is new model coming out.

This whole thread is based on the idea that Sony has sold too many PS3's. Ridiculous.

I dont not question PS3 numbers that much to be honest, 2M on shelves is reasonable enough, though I'd expect it to be a bit less.

I just dislike people putting down shipment figures on this site when they really are the best numbers to go by.

For what it's worth I think the OP is a lucky individual to not have been moderated for this thread.

You can never sell too many products, thats not something I've said and I'm not defending the OP for that statement.

I haven't put down shipment figures as being inaccurate so I can only assume you're referring to others.  Whether they're really the "best to go by" is subjective, given all 3 don't use the same metric to pick their shipment figure they really aren't the best necessarily as the data can be over a month out depending on what you class as shipped.  If "shipped" was measured the same by all 3 companies then you could say it was definitive imo.  Note shipped figures are always accurate, the issue is they're not measuring the same thing.

No you lot are just hating. I have said pure times before it is harder to track the PS3 because it is more popluar outside of the USA and UK. These 2 markets are easier to track. But not the rest. And i have read how you have changed your mind with each post but i dont really care. But think of this

What shop would order more PS3's then they need. yh sony can pressure as much as they want but if the shop does not need them. They will not order. Its that simple

Nice way of over simplifying business practices, I'll leave you all to your ignorance.

i just thought of another excuse, maybe sony are overshipping to meet the 15m figure they made up for this year. / sarcasm

this site is becoming really bad none of the reasons you lot have made for ps3 being possibly being overstocked make any sense, and you obviously do not understand how it works at all, not to mention even when there was shortages people always made excuses not to adjust ps3 up even though there was lots of evidence to support that in reality there are not as many ps3's waiting to be sold, or in process to go to retailers...

also i don't care if i get banned ps3 has been undertrackd for a long time now don't you think it's time to adjust those figures, all of this is done on purpose to make sure that gap stays between ps3-x360, so what next year will you let it slide to 3million ps3's sitting around???

LMAO!!!! omg the damage control by MS fans is just funny, more meltdown plz!!

So NPD (US), Media Create (Japan), GfK (UK / Other Europe) and VGC (worldwide) are all wrong... ?!

I really don't know, but if we talk about undertracked all of the ones I listed above undertrack the PS3. Every single one. That does sound strange. But maybe Sony counts in a different way. Like consoles ordered, but not shipped or even sold to customer yet.

This is no trolling, just some thoughts.

Pretty much.  The paranoia's getting thick in here...

Sony used to count 'Production Shipments' which meant unsold internal inventory or even unmanufactured retail orders placed would be counted.  That always led to numbers dramatically higher than sales trackers.  In 2007 they switched over to a new accounting method that included only 'shipments', but it's still not exactly in line with Nintendo's stricter accounting methods.  Dunno about Microsoft?

so they shipped in that way 2M PS3s? nah.

So *everyone's* undertracking PS3?  Keep the conspiracy theories coming...

actually npd numbers where alot higher also, vgc can't get wrong japan because media create and other come first. and europe well thats well probably they don't any way to know how things are selling.

if sony was stuffing the channel, they would have by now, but then they shippping way more than microsoft.

actually microsoft may the one stuffing, until 360s and 150$ clearance sales since they are not shipping as many now.

Im just going to whistle

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

No one is 'channel stuffing' at the moment.  PS3 has a healthy supply, 360 is somewhat supply constrained.

I laughed a lot through the 3 pages... keep it going , I'll come for more
