I Write Like:

I tried putting three of my VGC reviews into this thing, and it gave me David Foster Wallace. Naznatips tried my review. Again, David Foster Wallace. His own reviews always give him Cory Doctorow.

There's only one way in which we can tell whether this is real or fake: mass testing. So, put in a few paragraphs of writing, and post the author whom it says you write like.

I've tried my seven reviews in this site and I've gotten 2x Arthur C. Clarke (yay!), 2x David Foster Wallace (who??), 2x Cory Doctorow (who??? x2) and once HP Lovecraft (yay).

Seems like it can't make up its mind...either the algorithm doesn't work too well or copy edits really change my writing style

Anne Rice

My mother reads her books, though I have never.  Interesting site.

My results were (King) Arthur Kabrick ? Who the hell is that ? Never heard of him...

Okay, first, one of my One Piece fan-fictions, written one month ago

Second, one of my Deviant Art fan-fiction, written just this week.

Third, from one of my original, unfinished works

I write like
Arthur C. Clarke

I would say this isn't the best thing, but i input the works individually. My own writing style varies vastly depending on who i'm reading at the time, exactly what i'm writing, and the general vagaries of my mood, so i wouldn't write it off.

On sort of a side note.  To those who consider themselves authors (or soon to be).  How much/often do you read?  Aside from class assigned books, I haven't read anything in close to 10 years.

I'm in the final stages of writing my second book and most people seem to find it strange that I don't read anymore.  My personal opinion is that I would rather spend my free time writing rather than reading.  I also feel that I have gathered enough influence throughout my youth to find my own style.

One reason why I do this is because my lyrics and poetry are heavily influenced by what music I am listening to at the moment.

H.P Lovecraft? Im not sure who that is personally. I am not familiar with any of his works.

Total Bullshit. Just put in the first two paragraphs of my lego harry potter review and before sending it I thought to myself " I wonder if it will give me J.K Rowling?" and it did.

Edit: just put in an original piece of mine and got back Stephanie Meyer.

I've never read anything by David Foster Wallace.

I wish I got Arthur C. Clarke

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
