Three-way tie between Daft Punk, Tool, and Sigur Ròs. There are some more that are oh-so-close, or that i might even like more, but those three are definitely the most skilled bands I have heard.

best Pop group:
Outkast. No question in my mind. Hey Ya and Britney Spears' Toxic are the epitome of Pop music

Well, best musician... I like Sufjan Stevens very much.
But if you like real sad music then Matt Elliott is your type of musician.
I also like Beirut and Sigur Ros (my favourite live band, nothing against Muse but their live show is nothing compared to Sigur Ros). Eels is also one of my favourites. And Thom Yorke and his band Radiohead. 

And also Patrick Wolf... this man is CRAZY!

Oh, and also Elliott Smith ... (Rest in Peace...)
