question....

why is it that all the cool Terran tech is not available in MP game? are they waiting for all 3 games to be out?

I mean I liked the fire turrets  and other neat little perks :x feels like such a waist to only be able to toy with them 10 mins.

Balance issues, Terran would be so terribly overpowered if they had access to the Science Vessel or that thing that slows down Zergs.

so basically the game is identical as the last one except 2-3 units, and everything in the single player scenario.... feels cheap, as if the fact that they were creating 3 games made it that we don't get the content we should have had in MP....

MP has to be balanced.

The other alternative is to remove the other units from SP as well. With the SC games, MP balance always comes first, the single player units were added as extras.

I LOVE ICELAND!

So I found this image while exploring the internet and didn't fee like it was new thread-worthy but I still ahd to post it, I guess this would be the place:

It is funny cause it's so true.

As part of our continuing efforts to ensure fair matches and an enjoyable ladder system, we've identified and recently addressed three notable issues through hotfixes:

Improved Matchmaking for Teams
While the matchmaking system as a whole is looking very strong, one area we identified for improvement was matchmaking for arranged teams that were still in placement matches. We found these first few matches for arranged teams were giving them an unfair advantage against their opponents. Since so many new arranged teams were being created every day, this was resulting in a noticeable amount of imbalanced matches for team games. The corrections we've made should show an improvement for many team players, especially in the sub-Gold leagues.

Improved Placement for Teams
Another related issue we've received feedback on and experienced firsthand is the difficulty of placing in a high league while in an arranged team. We made two changes that should improve the experience. 1) The improved matchmaking mentioned above will help teams find opponents of similar skill sooner and, as a result, help to more quickly place teams in the league in which they belong. 2) We also found we were being too conservative in how teams were being placed in leagues and have made some adjustmentsto allow teams to be more easily placed in higher leagues. 3v3 random and arranged teams will likely notice this change the most.

Team Matchmaking Improvements
We found conditions where the matchmaking system was forcing certain teams and players to wait longer than needed for team matches. Those conditions have been addressed and the wait times should be reduced without affecting the quality of the matchmaking.

We're continuing to monitor the matchmaking system on all levels, reading feedback, and playing the game ourselves to ensure that it's providing a fair and fun system for players of all skill levels. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback or have already noticed some improvement from these changes by posting her

I don't get the Privacy and multiplayer replays issues I mean I can watch replays of multiplayer matches etc and I have no privacy problems. And SC2 does have tournament support...

I think they mean that your real name is displayed. Dunno about the replays bit, maybe they mean as easily as you could back in BW. However the tournament support is pretty big. If me and 20 other guys jsut get together at my place, how do we do a tournament with low lag?

well displaying your real name is optional as far as I can tell, the replay system from what I have seen is far far better. That's not really a tournament and even tho you could do it in SC1 it wasn't like they had a real built in system for it, and it's not like you couldn't do it in SC2 you would just have a bit of lag that isn't terrible online and at least all your pings should be about the same...

Edit: unless you didn't have a internet connection which sucks stupid no LAN play, and no spawn copies is a bummer as well...

Did you guys see this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBOrDptVtak&feature=player_embedded

The other day I was thinking whether the replays were saved locally or at the servers, it's looking like they're saved locally, which means your PC is receiving data on everything that happens everywhere on the map?

This seems really retarded to me, why would the servers be sending data on parts of the map that you're not supposed to see?? Or is the game actually peer to peer?

I am fairly certain that your PC is always recieving data on thing shappening everywhere on the map.  This is what allows people to cheat and look through the fog of war.  However, if it weren't done this way, I think the lag would be too bad to allow for precise management of your units in a firefight. I really dont think there is any way around the issue.

One of the nice things about the new replays it that it allows you to view exactly what a player was looking at on his screen.  This makes it much easier to determine if someone was cheating by watching to see if he is constantly looking at your base even when he couldn't possibly see it.

I've never done any firefight with units in a fog of war. If anything, sending data for less units would decrease lag. I really don't see any benefit of receiving data for units which are so far away that you can't possibly see them.

Unfortunately it's probably possible to make a more advanced cheat which doesn't show when the player is looking at foggy places.
