I just don't believe it.  I think a few of the games are "linked" but for the most part, they're seperate tellings of the same story.

I think it's moreso to rile the fans up than anything else.

yes, let's keep pretending that every Zelda is actually connected. OoT, MM, WW, PH, and ST are connected but let's not convince ourselves that somehow the Gameboy  games and stuff before OoT is somehow in the same line.

That's largely uncharted waters, given that the only game fairly well known to be before OoT (which is otherwise the root of the franchise at the point that branches the timelines) is Minish Cap.

The real question is: is this game before or after that?

Fairly certain those ended up in separate timelines, if you subscribe to that theory (and part of me finds the whole debate rather pointless, but i just can't help myself). Twilight Princess would be the successor to the Adult ending of OoT, where Ganondorf was sealed, and Wind Waker was set well after the child ending, where Ganondorf was not and Link went away anyway (to Termina), thus leading to downfall. Plus in the child timeline the legend of the hero would've been just that, and not something that actually happened.
