Forums - Sales - Simply put, the reason review scores matter.

Not matter how well written a review may be, noone wants to buy a 7.

It's hard to justify paying $60 for a 7.  It's hard to justify paying $30 for a 7.

That is all.

What about $50 for a 49?

Thats one more dollar than the review score aggregate!

It also matters a lot for the companies behind the games. I remember seeing the metacritic score of a game in a fiscal report.

sign of quality

and yes $30 dollar for a 7 should be worth it

The real reason scores matter is that people can have concrete evidence that one game is better than another by using Metactritic.  This of course only works when it agrees with their opinion.

That's simply and very well put. I agree with the 7.

When you see a 7 you might think it's not a bad game, you might even think it's a decent game, but that's irrevelant because it isn't good enough to buy it new.

I usually say 7 in the IGN sense of "Decent."  A game that's not spectatular but isn't terrible.

The review system is broken and Boom Blox proves it.

Btw, what's the Metascore of The Sky Crawlers? I bought it for €18 thinking it would be a good game, but what a waste of money that was. I felt ripped off.

To be fair about Boom Blox.  That game comes across as being good for about the first half an hour.  Unfortunately, I think that's all that reviewers played of it.

A seven is never worth the price unless you only own one system and you already had your way with the 8 and aboves.

Or if you only play one genre, how boring.
