Forums - Nintendo - Man Up, Wii Gamers.

Some truth exists in the above statement.

My editorial doesn't let 3rd parties off the hook as I've berated the hell out them far more so than the consuemrs.  But when 3rd parties do tend to make an effort, it still seems to not match up.

With certain developer effort, you expect certain consumer effort.  There are expection though.  Okami on PS2 should have sold milions...not 150k.  On Wii it has sold over twice that much even with a smaller install base.  We simply have to be more consistant.

Perhaps one element that shows a sales gap is this....Nintendo gamers are much less inclined to sell their games for credits at game retailers which leads to less overall sales.   HD console owners appear to have more diposable income because of the volume of games the purchase but their purchasing power is exaggerated by the volume of games they trade in for those new games.   Nintendo games are notorious of keeping their games.  You know, I think I just found my follow up editorial.  And I'll even credit you guys for helping me formulate the context.

When third parties start making games that are as good as Nintendo's i'll give them equal attention. Until then there are games from maybe two companies I'll pay full price for. For everything else I wait for the inevitable price drop.

Then I guess Nintendo shouldn't expect much third party support in the future if a lot of people follow your line of thought. Not many developer's can match the development skill of Nintendo and yet your standards are so high that you overlook heap's of  great titles that Third Party publisher's release.

When third parties bring their A game to the Wii in droves let me know. Until then I will continue to buy post price drop and used.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

I have been buying third party games: some of which are excellent and well worth keeping: Monster Hunter Tri and Tatsunoko vs Capcom being the pinnacle this year and then there are others that are decent and worth a play through such as Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2, Muramasa and Fragile Dreams. Of course there's also WiiWare like Bit.Trp Runner and Art of Balance, both of which are utterly compelling.

I'm looking forward to Epic Mickey, Goldeneye, Black Ops, Conduit 2, Arc Rise Fantasia and Trackmania.

There's plenty of good stuff out there just some of them end up being traded in. Monster Hunter is not one of those!!

I personally don't see HD games as being better quality than the last-gen games. Many of them just feel the same to me. If anything I'm with Malstrom on this issue. Bags of mostly hype.

I am proud.

Telling Wii gamers to buy third party games based on hope and publisher promises like it always has been and still is and make it sound like we have to, or else...

Yeah, the publisher promises are bullshit. It's them trying to manipulate gamers, instead of giving the gamers what they want.

Good job, you avoid the argument, throw in a lame attempt at an answer and then you insult my intelligence by directing me to a grammar site. Your just a fantastic member of this site.

P.S. I've corrected my previous post, I'm sorry for any sort of trouble my grammar may have caused, please forgive my stupidity.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

So if I don't buy a bunch of games that might be crappy instead of the few Nintendo games that I know will be awesome, then I'm not a man???

No wonder I have such great conversations with women.

By 'man up', I mean hold up your end of the deal.

It's a statement inferring that that many vocal Wii gamers demand more games focused on them yet only a small portion actually buy the very titles aimed at them.   Part of being a man is owning up to obligations and as a collective unit, we've not done that very well.

I know and was just kidding.  I've bought several third party games for the Wii.  Some I like and some I don't.

Let's just say that I'm more cautious with third party games but that doesn't mean that I discredit them.  Monster Hunter Tri is my favorite Wii game this year.

You got that wrong. We demanded good games. Third parties didn't deliver, so we didn't buy. The Wii gamers are only the bad guys, if you leave crucial details out of your story.

Although a lot of the lesser selling games are still good, but not hit material, and would not be hit material on any system.

Who really needs to man up are developers realizing that one core game is not as good as another.

And here, I'll agree with you.  But calling out developers and publishers is fodder for a different editorial.  One front at a time.
