Glad to see someone doing something about the recent Tales games, man. I know that I'm going to study the language myself anyway, but it's good to see the game being brought to most of the fans that won't...

The Wii is region-locked so we can`t import unless we A) Buy a Wii for each region to play the imports you want (fuck that) or B) Install Homebrew Channel and the required apps. I think I`m gonna go with Option B.
Once my Wii`s warranty expires (1 year 3 months from joining Club Nintendo), I`m thinking about installing homebrew channel on it. So annoying for Nintendo to region-lock the Wii. Would like to play Another Code R (english but PAL only. No NTSC-U). Can you still go online with homebrew channel installed? I know that Nintendo periodicially releases firmware upgrades to block homebrew channel but once the hackers come out with a new version of homebrew channel, I would think it would be possible no?
*squeeee*
Ahem. Excuse me. I look forward to this greatly, along with any possible news of Tales localizations. Which I'm sure will never happen . . . (Lookin' at you, Tales of Graces f)

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

But of course. I'm just hoping that Namco can finally get their crap together. Still waiting on Tales of Radient Mythology 1 & 2, and Graces, and Graces f, and the previously hinted at Vesperia 2 . . . and whatever possible reinvention of the Tales series via oil-pastel coloration and these trademarkss:
2010-065775 テイルズオブエクシリア
2010-065776 テイルズオブイクシリア
2010-065777 Tales of Xillia
2010-065778 Tales of Faithus
2010-065779 Tales of Zestia
Also, I want some of that Tales of Graces f curry. Actually doesn't look half bad.

I recommend that game also.. One good reason to live in PAL territories..But hopefully many can play this game
This is kind of old news, though it seems that it is almost completed, which is great. I heard that there is also a team that is working on making a translation patch for Graces F aswell, so now everyone can get this in English, that'll probably make Scamco upset..... bastards.

I checked the Wiibrew wiki and there is no indication there that Riivolution makes region-locked games playable on your Wii. It will translate Japanese text to english but it says nothing about making the game or your console region-free. Ultimately it doesn't look like it'll make your NTSC-U Wii boot a NTSC-J or PAL game unless someone who uses the app can confirm that it can bypass region-locking. From what I've heard, you need homebrew channel in order to launch the necessary apps to bypass the region-locks.
Tales of Graces is actually a bit of a bitch compared to other NTSC-J games in that you either get a specific fix (an xml file) that let's the game run through Riivolution or you resort to NeoGAMMA, a Homebrew application for loading backups, as opposed to just running imported games through other loaders such as Gecko OS with the latest cIOS installed. It appears as though Namco-Bandai put a little more protection on this game, just to make sure us western Tales fans do not get to play it. It took me a while but I tracked down this information after my imported copy of Tales of Graces arrived and I've tested it myself. Both methods work perfectly, but of course we will all be using the former when the patch is released.
Don't worry everyone. When the patch is finally released, the translation team will most likely include a straight forward guide to launching the game properly with the patch installed, with all the necessary requirements included within the download file along with the patch. Try not to feel intimidated, the requirements are minimal and it's actually lot simpler than it sounds. :)

Yes you can still go online with the Homebrew Channel installed. You can do everything you normally do with the HBC installed to your Wii, just refrain from updating when Nintendo requests you to, as it will most likely remove it.

How technical is your game?

@loves2spooge: Homebrew channel doesn't void your warranty, I'm not sure what you're worried about.
