The Wii is region-locked so we can`t import unless we A) Buy a Wii for each region to play the imports you want (fuck that) or B) Install Homebrew Channel and the required apps. I think I`m gonna go with Option B.

Once my Wii`s warranty expires (1 year 3 months from joining Club Nintendo), I`m thinking about installing homebrew channel on it. So annoying for Nintendo to region-lock the Wii. Would like to play Another Code R (english but PAL only. No NTSC-U). Can you still go online with homebrew channel installed? I know that Nintendo periodicially releases firmware upgrades to block homebrew channel but once the hackers come out with a new version of homebrew channel, I would think it would be possible no?

You don't need the Homebrew Channel, just Riivolution.

I checked the Wiibrew wiki and there is no indication there that Riivolution makes region-locked games playable on your Wii. It will translate Japanese text to english but it says nothing about making the game or your console region-free. Ultimately it doesn't look like it'll make your NTSC-U Wii boot a NTSC-J or PAL game unless someone who uses the app can confirm that it can bypass region-locking. From what I've heard, you need homebrew channel in order to launch the necessary apps to bypass the region-locks.
