Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is doomed: Circa 1989

I wonder if there was a 1990 Pachter.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Three quick notes.

First, the Internet has always had pr0n.  Just in the old days it was binary files posted in several takes in alt.newsgroups that had to be specially downloaded and assembled.  Of course it was just still pictures.

Second, the competitors were superior to the Gameboy -- except in battery life and game play. Even then, Nintendo knew what most consumers wanted.

Third, the NES v. Genesis arguments were true. But it was an apples to oranges comparison, as the SNES proved.

Binaries?

Man you were spoiled, as a teen I had to settle for ascii-porn

Yep, Sean McGowan. "Toy industry" analyst. He used to work for .....dun....dun... Wedbush Morgan Securities. He's on the vid I posted.

The Superior argument is quite difficult, I had a Gamegear and recently I bought a Lynx and so far my experience is:

Gamegear: Yes Sonic looks cool but the battery life is utter crap, the thing uses 6 AA batteries and it's a hog. You can actually run out of batteries in 3 hours, also it has a quite annoying malfuction with the sound, seems like the processor couldn't handle properly the sound chip so it get ruined quite easily. It's like the RROD but only foused on the sound.

Lynx: Horrible handheld, it's way too big and the screen is terrible, worse than the gameboy, you need to be in a very specific position to see the bloody thing and yes it eats batteries quickly. I have seen few good games for this thing too.

In my book Superior doesn't mean only graphics in color, means affordable systems that are also easy to get, the Gamegear and the Lynx aren't convenient systems, I even had the "portable rechargable" battery for the gamegear, the thing is almost the size of a DS lite.

Mother of God.

WE HAD THE INTERNET THIRTY YEARS AGO?

Of course, the Genesis won the latter battle too.  High Definition gaming and Blast Processing!!!*

*Does anyone know what Blast Processing actually means?  Serious question.

It was pumping up the fact that the CPU bus speed was 7 megahertz, which was pretty fast for a console then. The SNES has a bus speed only half that (but the actual CPU clock speed was 21 megahertz).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Ah, thanks!  What practical difference does that make, if you don't mind my asking?

1990 is twenty years ago.  Or are you seeing something I'm not in this thread?

I would suppose that while clock speed lets a CPU think faster, bus speed lets it communicate faster.
