That's what happens when people read the title, w/o reading the article....

Then the person who makes an incorrect assumption about it gets ridiculed for being wrong. People will be stupid, no doubt. Arguing any further would probably be something lawyers delve into constantly.

 

I'm wondering if Seece is pre-law trying to get some practice in.

Im not in either camp but the way I see it a single game to sell 15 units on one console is a lot more impressive than three games on two consoles and the PC selling the same number only slightly quicker.

My point about Resident Evil 4 would be interesting (even if its not at all relevant to this discussion), If you could count it like MW2. I know it would be stretching it but it could be fun to see the numbers.

They are just counting the different versions seperately, which I totally agree with. 

 

Should the source have put '*counting multi-plat seperately'?  Yes. 

Does it deserve this much of a fuss? No

Good grief... I got sick of reading this pooh flinging after 2 pages (1st and 2nd last to get the gist and see if anything evolved), one would have to read an entire thread of stupid comments before having a say?

I think it's ludicrous to be sour at celebrating any kind of games achievement. I think giving a bravo on both games for achieving these massive milestones is well deserved.

Actually, your statement is irrelevant.

If this thread were about overall SALES of the game, there is a chance of it coming true eventually (even if there is almost a 5 million sales gap currently). BUT, the problem with your statement is that this record is about TIME and SALES, which are 2 variables that need to be met for the record to exist.

In fact, sales aren't even part of the real argument going on in this thread. Nobody is arguing about MW2 selling as much as it has sold, same goes for Mario. The real argument here is "Should the same game on different platforms be treated as 1 title when it comes to the record books?" Which in all honesty, will most likely just create subgenre's of the record for exclusives and multiplatform titles.

Sure. Thing is though, none of the other hooplah mentioned will even matter. Look at MK and GTA; Once MK outsold all versions combined, no one cared who did what fastest. Same thing will happen here.
