Why is their a news piece about NSMB being fastest game to 15 million?

If this thread were about overall SALES of the game, there is a chance of it coming true eventually (even if there is almost a 5 million sales gap currently). BUT, the problem with your statement is that this record is about TIME and SALES, which are 2 variables that need to be met for the record to exist.

In fact, sales aren't even part of the real argument going on in this thread. Nobody is arguing about MW2 selling as much as it has sold, same goes for Mario. The real argument here is "Should the same game on different platforms be treated as 1 title when it comes to the record books?" Which in all honesty, will most likely just create subgenre's of the record for exclusives and multiplatform titles.

Sure. Thing is though, none of the other hooplah mentioned will even matter. Look at MK and GTA; Once MK outsold all versions combined, no one cared who did what fastest. Same thing will happen here.
