Forums - Microsoft - Proof that Forza at E3 works for real and perfectly.

This is so awesome...

I think this is amazing. It's a lot more accurate than what it looked like at the E3 conference (which I too assumed was fake, and it probably was, but it doesn't matter as it's now proven to be working). I'm so impressed.

The thing that sucks about, though, is it's EXTREMELY casual.  Noticable lag, completely automatic acceleration/braking, and assisted steering in the corners.  At least in other casual racers, something like say Mario Kart, you have full control over your vehicle.  I'm not excited about a car almost driving itself.

Yeah cause there's no option to turn off the assists right?  >_>

Looks awkward to play Forza 3 with kinect. Better off with a racing wheel.

The showroom does look nice though.

Forza 3 is my favorite sim racer and the only one I actually finished (well, it doesn't really end now does it?) the career mode in. All they have to do is give me some new tracks and cars for Forza 4, and I'll be happy, but it looks like they're doing so much more.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Seems like a neat concept (the showroom car exploring, the driving sucks big time), but I can't imagine dancing around the room trying to check out 2-3 cars, basicaly doing squats... Well I'm not sold on that, head tracking is neat, but for the rest I'd prefer a classic racing setup with either wheel or atleast a controler. Kinect isn't really offering you anything that you wouldn't find from the competetion, maybe if there was a voice command to start your Bentley :).

And the imagination stops there with you I guess.

What if Turn 10 implemented the other ideas they have, changing car parts yourself. Livery editor to include physically sparaying your car yourself.

And for the thousand time, Turn 10 will include this fun take 5 mins out from hardcore racing as a side mode on Forza 4. The usual FFB wheel with motorized unit headtracking will be there.

This game will be car porn to the highest degree.

One of the thing I don't like about console racing games is they are clearly design for a controller while steering wheel support is often an after thought. Kinect as a steering wheel is a huge step backward since there is no forcefeed back, no resistance to pedals ... what am I thinking no pedals at all and I thought DFGT pedals sucked. I have a feeling the next Forza will feel just as it design for Kinect with wheel support again an after thought especially FFB.

Also moving around to room to see your car is  lame. It's like wow "I can get up and change channel on my HDTV instead of  using the remote". Head tracking on the pc is better than kinect since i can look around the car with just little head movement vs moving around the room.

Oh the haters. LOL.

Some of the stuff that Turn 10 have been considering are follows:

Being able to spray paint the car.

Physically changing the parts under the hood yourself. And Alloys etc. Heck Forza 4 could teach you car maintenance.

The driving Kinect part is one of many modes to apparantly come with the now rumoured Forza 4 in 2011. Driving with a wheel is of course gonna be there with the normal hardcore modes we expect from Forza 4.

As far as head tracking. LOL. comparing an unfinished product are we. Considering Kinect has a physically motorized unit. It potentially has the ability to have the best headtracking available.

The potential of Kinect with Forza 4 with these features can give the most detailed car enthusiast game we have ever seen.

I dont know about you, but Ive never sat in an Enzo. Or even looked at the engine up close. With Forza 4 it looks almost set in stone.

The greatest car porn ever.

It's not an Enzo :)

It's the new Ferrari 458 Italia.

I never said the car in the video was an Enzo. I used the Enzo as a talk point.

Fantec Porsche 911 Turbo S Racing Wheel says hi.

It was made for Forza 3 and had everything you listed plus clutch support.

360 wheel says hi too yet even Forza 3 (as well as all 360 racing games) steering wheel is an after thought.(there is athe case where  controls are mapped to the right analog stick which wheels don't have.) When  the 911 Turbo S  first came out some thought the wheel's FFB was weak until they learn it was Forza 3 not the wheel. GT3 RS v2 is Fanatec best wheel  I would still get this instead even though it's not for 360.

A good wheel still needs good software to take advantage of the wheel.

Actually the FFB isnt considered weak. The rumble is. But Turn 10 got it right. It's just many no real racers understand.

The complete experience for Forza 3 is FFb wheel plus Buttkicker. When driving a real car there isnt alot of rumble through the wheel. Alot of games excessively put rumble through the wheel. Note that rumble is completely different from tension on the wheel whilst turning against forces of nature.

Things like being hit in the rear, the side, over a rumble strip etc, the tension of the wheel being forced left or right is great. But the rumble was designed to come through the entire chair moreso than the wheel. In other words a far more realistic experience.

Changing parts yourself? That's neat, but also a useless gimmick, what do I gain from pretending to be mechanic? Not saying that it won't interest somebody, but it's a gimmick. Spraying the car? You can do that with the Wii, let alone Move (which is unlike Kinect actually really precise).

All I'm saying is that Kinect with Forza doesn't offer anything that couldn't be done elsewhere = implementing gimmick's. How many people will buy 150 USD device for these functions? Well I'm afraid that many, but those are really useless gimmicky functions that doesn't enhance the game in any way.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Obviously you dont buy hardware for 1 game. And in a racing game I want the wheel. So of course these extras are extras.

But they are extras not all possible elsewhere. It's interaction on a car lovers level. Many people go on and on about GT being car porn. And for the car lovers. What more can a car lover want than to physically inspect every part of a car he'll never afford? Learn about maintaining and changing parts on a Ferrari?

Yeah some people wont bother, they just wanna race. But some people will love the feature. It's like having a personal Virtual car encyclopedia. Something you cannot get on any other console.

The main game wont change. But the game will feel far more complete as a car enthusiast game with these features.
