Konami CEO Talks Peace Walker Sales, Love Plus, and Metal Gear Arcade.

Metal Gear Arcade adds 3D and other features to PS3's Metal Gear Online.

Konami CEO Fumiaki Tanaka has high hopes for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker sales. In a Nikkei BP interview that was conducted prior to Peace Walker's international release, Tanaka said Konami anticipates 3 million in worldwide sales for the PSP title.

So far, the game appears to be offer to a good start. Tanaka described Japanese sales following the game's April 29 release as "according to expectations."

Hmm, maybe on store shelves, because Europe numbers just came in....and not looking too good. 

Of course yes they mean shipped when they say this.

so 3 million for that game is crazy or sane?

Well, you want to make sure that retailers don't have way too many copies of the game on shelves. It could taint relationships. (Given I don't think retailers would over-order.....would they?)

It seems unlikely, but it is possible. It will probably be easier to tell how well it will do with 2nd weeks in EMEAA and Americas.

Hopefully it will only have a small drop in Americas and a rise in EMEAA.

Not looking good so far.

Its a PSP game, retailers won't over order in the west

BUT its a MGS game, and retailers might have ordered more than they can chew off.

Yes. If you look at the breakdown, they're hoping to sell 2,999,995 UMDs and 5 downloads. I think the latter is more doable than the former.
