Going by the numbers I think Nintendo will need a Wii successor by Q4 2012.. I mean sure, Metroid isn't a huge franchise and certainly not one to bank a console's potential life on but the advertising has been there and there is a Metroid fan base on Wii already built up thanks to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
To only sell 1/3 of the first week sales of Corruption is strange.. Sure it's not the holidays but generally you'd see a more front loaded sales curve to another title in a franchise on a particular system compared with the first.
I myself haven't picked up the title yet either due to a few reasons including moving over to the PS3 for my gaming as of late and also shaky reviews.. For a game that I'll probably only play once, paying full price just doesn't make sense to me right now.
