Lets assume that the PS3 at minimum was supposed to sell better than the 360's first year for their first year. Especially because they have the Japan advantage and they were the previous market leader for 2 generations. Lets assume that most analysts predicted that the PS3 would have completely passed up the 360 by now in its entirety.

Most analysts (and Sony fans) were predicting that the sales of the PS3 and Wii would have switched places in this generation ...

Thats why I think its stupid that people keep bragging that the PS3's first year beat the 360's first year. And not even by much.

Remember, that is an accomplishment for what was a $600 console, also Europe got the PS3's in march, five months after the initial release. I agree that if the PS3 continues to match 360 sales it won't have the opportunity to pass it, but for a console to caos $200 more than the 360, and to surpass its first year sales is good. Not great, but good.

Don't forget that channel stuffing (shipped unsold units) can only happen ONCE - and its already happened. They can't AGAIN ship another 12m - while selling only 10m - retailers are not likely to double the number of PS3 units they have waiting on shelves.

So for this fiscal year, shipped should be close to sold - and definitely no more than 1m off.

What if, and thats just a if, ioi undertracks the PS3 in Europe and E.A. has access to the number of GFK etc.?

Just a thought for some of you to consider. I say it looks very good for my bet at the moment :o)

Ioi isn't under tracking anything. In fact, I think he's over tracking PS3 sales if anything. It's hard to believe the PS3 is doing so well...
