Forums - Sales - It seems like Kinect is taking a early lead over Move (Preorders)

the sign is kinect will have better sales than move

after watching many live demos, from gamespot, like kincetimals, and Child of eden and otehrs,

it is very impressive.

I would guess if there was a shortage of Move vs Kinect at launch  it would be Kinect. When has there ever been a shortage of a controller? PS EYE is already out. I can't see any need to preorder a controller.

So if I was going to buy  Kinect and/or Move at launch, I would preorder Kinect but not Move.

Kinect is already down outside of the Top 25 in Amazon preorders / bestsellers and I really doubt it'll sell well.

No core game to please the core gamer (unlike PS Move), too expansive (unlike 1 player Move), limited to 2 players (unlike Move), it's just too little too late.

At least PS Move has core games planned like Socom, Sorcery or Killzone 3...

By the way, controller less gaming is nothing new or impressive, Eyetoy sold 10 millions...

It's just real games need buttons and user feedback, hence the lack of real Kinect games. The tech is too limited.

Move has been out of the top 100 for a couple of days now.

If I wanted a peripheral I'd just get a wii

Kinect offers a wider experiance in m opinion

I don't get the Kinect, so far what i've seen it looks like it does a similar job to the eye toy - except instead of showing an image of you it creates a 3d model. The only games it might be decent on is ones like those found on the Wii, i can't see it being much use in hardcore games like Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Forza, Final Fantasy, etc.

Also why all of a sudden does everyone want a controller-less interface? Initially when the PS3 came out and they didn't have the dualshock controller all the 360 fans were having a go at the sixaxis because of the lack or vibration, now you're not going to get any sort of feedback with the Kinect.

For true realism you need feedback/resistance, it emerses you more into the game.  Honestly i see it as a huge waste of money, and sales isn't going to change my mind about it - actual usage time would change my mind.

Like i said the games it will be used most with are Wii-like ones, i assume they majority of people who own a Wii and either or both PS3 and 360 find themselves using the PS3/360 more often than the Wii, this will be the same - you might buy the Kinect but chances are you'll still use a normal controller for your gaming needs more.

I tried to avoid replying in this thread as a lot of ignorance in here. But screw it!

This whole "The casual don't know about Kinect, only hardcore gamers know about Kinect" whole thing is a load of bollocks and is nothing more then wishful thinking.

Like just for example today. One of the biggest media companies on the planet has on their most popular current news articles this

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10623423

If you look on the front page of BBC

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/

Your see it is the SECOND most popular news piece. That is a story about Kinect.

This does not mean it will go on to sell xyz. What it means is Kinect is more news worthy and thus people become aware of it. Millions of people will have seen that article, millions would of seen the news piece on the tv for it. This raises awareness for it.

As time goes by and more of these types of things appear then more and more people will know about it.

Kinect is for the casuals, of course it will outsell the Move. The Move will be picked up by the hardcore. The Move will be the cult favorite peripheral because of the games it will produce. Microsoft has the western audience under their thumb (more namely America). I've already seen them on all the top shows with Kinect.

I just visited the BBC site, I read the article last night but never bothered with the video and that is actually the first time I have watched the milo video (Cannot believe I never watched it before). I can see why people are worried because if that did work it would be awesome. I think we have a few pinches of salt to get past first though but damn that was cool and I guess thats what others will think too.

It was the second most shared item on the BBC website so definately getting some air time. What I would like to have seen is what was shown at the more recent TED event.
