Not here they're not. Btw, where are you from? PS: Anyone know if the Wii has any form of Platinum system so games get half price after a year or so if they sell well?

Welcome to another round of "your government is taxing the shit out of you!"

Sorry, but I know that I've heard of an article somewhere that stated that nintendo was specifically requiring stores not to inflate the price of the Wii, because early on with how much demand, there would have been a lot of call for it.

So if your country is paying huge amounts for something that, given direct monetary conversion, shouldn't be half that expensive, I'm willing to bet that it's either import taxes, or its some sort of entertainment tax, or possibly both.

Norway taxes the hell out of everyone (especially those who have no money), and things generally cost twice as much as in the rest of Europe... A bad place to be a gamer in other words!

The game price applies to games within the same system as well.

Some new PS3/360 games cost less than others, (i.e. KZ2 vs some low budget game) should they also be cheaper?

In the US, Wii games are priced anywhere from $20-90. (Guitar Hero III would be the $90 one.) They are generally $10 cheaper than their Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts and $10 more expensive than the PS2 originals/ports. Amazingly, many third parties are bringing out games for less than $50. Then again many third parties games aren't worth $50...



Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

Wii games are not overpriced. Most of the Wii games I see costs b/t $30 and $50 whereas the 360 and PS3 games cost around $50 to $60. The Wii games seem to cost less and they offer me more fun. I don't buy a game unless I consider it a good value. If a game looks fun but overpriced, I wait for it to drop in price or buy it used.
Here are some of the Wii games I bought:
VC game Simcity $8 + tax
Wii Play $10 + tax
Link's Crossbow Training $20 + tax
Ghost Squad $30
Kororinpa Marble Mania $30 (bought it after it dropped in price)
Metal Slug Anthology $40
Trauma Center New Blood $50 - 1/3 + tax (I bought it with the TRU buy 2 get 1 free promotion) (I would not have paid full price for this game)
NiGHTS $50 - 1/3 + tax (I bought it with the TRU buy 2 get 1 free promotion)
SSBB $50 - 1/3 + tax (I bought it with the TRU buy 2 get 1 free promotion)
Mario Party 8 $50 + tax
GHIII $80 + tax
