So will there only be one Formula 1 car?

How many were there in GT3/GT4?

There were no official F1 cars in past GTs, just concepts and prototype F1s.

It's pretty awesome that GT5 will feature real licensed F1 cars. I just hope Mclaren gets there too, and if they get older models, then it will even more amazing

1990's Mclaren FTW.

Yeah to be able to drive a '90s McLaren would be cool!

I think F1 cars are important in a racing simulator.

Yup, but only very few simulators (that were not F1 specific) had them. F1 license is rarely distributed beyond the current holder. Since Codemasters has had the license for quite some years, it's pretty amazing that Polyphony Digital has managed to get licensed F1 cars in GT5.

Oh, Codemasters has the license? That explains why we haven't seen a good F1 game in ages.

Ahahah you're right

Hopefully, with F1 2010, they can get back to the good F1 simulation days of Geoff's Crammond Gran Prix games.

Didn't Sony have the license a few years ago? It may allow them to put the older model F1 cars in the game still without too much worry.

Hmmm, PS3 does have that F1 game, but I don't know who developed it. I really do hope that too, more F1 cars would be an awesome addition.

What abut the 800 standard cars that are rumored to not have interior view. Is there any truth to this rumor?

Do you know what interior view is? All of them have cockpit view.. interior as in THE ENTIRE CAR not just the cockpit.

I believe in this interpretation, but lestatdark can you confirm it please?

Nope, but in the Official GT site and Gtplanet people are confused by the meaning of this as well. Even a direct interview with Kazunori Yamauchi couldn't dispel the meaning behind the interior view. http://www.gtplanet.net/kazunori-yamauchi-live-twitter-interview-with-honda/

I actually have that game. I checked the back and it was made by Studio Liverpool who I'm pretty sure were owned by Sony so they must've had the license before Codemasters. Hopefully this means we'll have a lot of F1 cars!

Hmm... And what about damage for those standard cars? If your reply is "only cosmetic damage is rumoured" then what does cosmetic actually mean? (does it mean doors will fall off like in Petter Solberg's Subaru?).

Yeah, In game advertisements! I am so happy to pay full price for a game and still get commericals!

Actually, when you play sports games like Fifa or GT5, you want the game to feel as real as possible. If the advertising are missing, the it feels fake. I know that when I play a football match, I don't want to see some fake ads on the side of the field... I want real ads like Emirates or Adidas or nike or audi.

I agree, the previous GTs had bland looking F1 cars so this is good news and not meant as an ad but to make the game feel more real.  I wonder why the previous poster isn't whining about the game having actual brand name cars instead of fake titled cars that resemble real cars.

Standard cars have the same amount of mechanical damage as Premium. Unlike premium though, they don't have panel dislocation (a.k.a doors falling off, bumpers destroyed, rear view windows dislocated), which is substituted for dents and scratches on the surface of the cars.

Aww... it's the visible damage I care most about (now that we've known for a good a while that "bumber cars" in GT is history). Hopefully that Red Bull F1 car will have visible damage. And I'd like to have some normal production cars with visible damage, like your regular Toyota Corolla, BMW 325, Volvo S60 and stuff like that.
