I'll stick with my Wii and my 4 Wii motes and nunchuks.
I saw a 'Kinect view' somewhere which had three players being scanned into the application at once.
In any case I think its important to seperate the practical number of players which can fit into the frame of view from the technical side. Because the more active the player is in a game the more space needed and hence the fewer number of players which can fit into the view of the cameras. More active = more technically demanding coinciding with fewer players being able to fit which mitigates most of the issues with regards to number of players in an active sense. If a game is more passive, lets say for instance its a quiz game like on the E3 2009 teaser they could easily 'fit' 4 players into the view and each player is less active so each require far less processing.
Tease.

Kinect can scan as many players as you want (more or less), the problem is that it can only run calculations on two people at a time, just because the processing power required to track all of the body's locations and movements is so great (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/19/kinect-how-it-works-from-the-company-behind-the-tech/ ).

Two complete players. If they were doing voice or just only calculating the top half they can do more. In addition to this they can run calculations in serial with a greater processing/latency hit.
Tease.
That is the disappointment that I was waiting for. The thing that will turn people off. I knew something like this would happen
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Uhm, only one player is actually rated/scored in that Dance Central video, so that's one player mode. |
Looks like the system MAY pick up other players and map their movement, but NOT tie them into the being rated or scored. In that case, you can have one player active and more than one tracked.
In regards to this latest thread, limiting it to two players likely won't be that huge of an impact due to the space required to be able to accomodate more. I am sure the games can support more than two in a jump in and out mode.

I don't think that not being able to support 4 Players will neccessarily 'turn off' people. Like I'm sure people know how to take turns in paris or something. But you see this is why Kinect and Move won't see the big success of the Wii.
The Wii IS able to support up to 4 players in great addictive multiplayer games like Super Smash Bros Brawl, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario Kart and the list goes on and that's what makes the Wii so great compared to Move and Kinect.
So really, Wii is just 1 up Move and Kinect with full 4 Player Support in a lot of family and friends orientated multiplayer games. If the Move can do full 4 player support then that's also great and pretty much the same as the Wii then but if Kinect can't then... Move and Wii are 1 up. Yes it's disappointing Kinect if it can't support 4 Players but it's not a major 'turn off' factor.

It was still awesome though. |
I will assume that the duel mode of Dance Central can have two players face off. I think I may of actually seen a video on that. Having that fits within the limits of what was discussed here, and also is in keeping with Dance Dance Revolution. There are practical limits for living room size on how many active players would be tracked, and moving around fully. We could also see you can have more than two, if they are in a "little brother" mode.
Here's an article from TheSixthAxis about this matter:
"Indeed, even the press release for dancing title Zumba appears to firm up the suspicions.
“Zumba instructor, the stage transforms into a high voltage party atmosphere with special effects and additional crowd dancers,” says the press release. “Players can also grow that party at home with up to four players on Wii and PlayStation Move, and up to two players on Kinect for Xbox 360.”

So there you have it. Wii is 1 up Kinect.

It could be if you are a casual gaming family, but otherwise I agree.
