Forums - Nintendo - Are you ashamed of playing Nintendo games?

Absolutely not.

I'm pretty self confident in who I am, and those who are, rarely lets mundane things like that bother them.

Should I never go to Disneyland amusement parks?  Should I never watch an animated movie if it doesn't have adult themes?  Should the mainstream continue to have that same broad stereotype that video games are for geeks and nerds? Do I classify my friends who are metrosexual gay? Are comics for kids only? And this list goes on and on.

Those who purvey those types of stereotypes tend to manifest a lack of self esteem and tolerance and usually try to put down those that they don't understand.

It is a human condition, psychologically that has now become more prevalent in this day and age.  Perhaps it is because of the global competitive landscape factored with an individuals status, stature or whatever one deems important.

We spout words of wisdom that are easily hypocritical and arguments for or against are easy to make. Should you care what others think about you? If everyone jumped off a bridge should you follow? Are you a lemming or a pioneer?

It's pretty simple.  I believe there is no definitive answer to anything.  So why let something like the inner child in you feel guilty of anything?

metrosexual gay is all I got out of your post. That's a term I've never heard of. What in the world is that suppose to mean. lol

If a gamer is ashamed of playing a Nintendo game he or she really likes and calls that a "Guilty Pleasure", then this gamer shows lack of self-esteem and only considers the opinion of others intead of his or her own. Perhaps counselling is needed

I like to play Nintendo games and I say it in public and I feel happy to go to a store to buy one because it matters to me the fun I will have with that game, no matters what other say.

I agree with you Albion.  Since we have knowledge of how they are trying to sway our opinions we cna engage in a healthy amount of reactance (basically, the motivation to do exactly the opposit of what they want).  In the end just play want you have fun with.  I realize that we all have a trmendous amount of social pressure directed at us, but you have to take responsibility for your own fun...... so go ahead and start having that fun.

Remember, magic is just stuff science has not made boring yet.

LOL... metrosexuals are men who like to physically take care of themselves... such as manicures, pediicures, make-up... etc.

No, not at all.

Hell, among some circles (workplaces), it's the more popular/played console. I would say the same among aficionados as well; I can't imagine anyone who simply likes gaming scoffing at any particular company for such a ridiculous reason. My imagination is quite poor though...

I might add that the best moments for me playing Nintendo games is when I play with my fiance Mario Kart Wii. she goes to whisper or kiss my ear so she can beat me. she also punch my arm when we both lose in New Super Mario Brother Wii.

I hate to say this, but yes.

I have some fun playing Mario with some of my friends, but there are others who start with Mario is kiddy, and Playstation is for men.

So I don't like talking about videogames with them.
