Forums - Sales Discussion - Is It Possible For GT5 To OutSell Halo Reach Lifetime?...I Think So!

The people who are looking forward to GT5 are the sames GT fans. Not Rally or Nascar fans. No fan will get excited for a single track in their beloved sport. They will buy the licensed game.

Agree... just over 10 million GT fans.

Agreed, but how many of the GT buyers of old, havent bothered this time around with a PS3. Chances are high. Forza 3 is selling more each week than GT3 did consecutively. ( although GT3 sold most in it's opening, but still not bad thereafter. ) So are some old PS2 owners who own a 360 now not gonna bother with PS3 and GT5? If ou have played Forza 3 it's more than a filler for GT. In many peoples opinion a more community feel and better realistic physics system. But thats opinion.

I think GT5 will be doing well to beat 7-8 million Lifetime. Making it PS3's best selling exclusive by 3 million copies.

So i have skimmed many posts and looks like ignorance towards GT is as strong as ever on here.  Prologue is nearing 5 million, and some are predicting that for the full GT release... haha hahah hahahahahhahaha.

Lets just think.  Yamagichi has managed to partner GT5 up with these little known brands.

WRC
Nascar
Redbull F1
Top Gear

The problem with Prologue is that it was never a full price title and was included with most consoles for a large period of time. Mine came with it.

If ODST was released at £17.99 like Prologue then ODST's sales would be a lot higher.

The question is how many of those people will pay the £39.99 for the full game?

We will see.

Mr Hus.

GT5 will contain 'NO' F1 cars. Redbull cannot choose whether to allow Sony to have their car. The decision for any F1 car to appear in anything other than broadcast is Bernie Ecclestones decision. Not Redbull.

As you're aware, F1 cars have already appeared on a Gran Turismo title.

GT5p had the Ferrari F2007 car, just as Gran Turismo PSP had it as well.

And since GT5 and GT PSP will have direct data transfer for the garage cars, you can transfer the Ferrari F1 F2007 car to GT5.

Even if no other F1 cars are added to GT5, GT5 will always have at least one F1 car.

Also, here's a link to the official RBR site: http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Article/Gran-Turismo-5---Fuelled-By-Red-Bull-Racing-021242863182148

Take particular attention to this paragraph, which doesn't confirm a RBR F1 car in GT5, true, but it hints heavily to it: "For months the F1 team has been working with Polyphony, the company behind the game after Red Bull was asked to become part of the latest chapter: GT5 – The Real Driving Simulator."

Arent you supposed to be able to do the same as with GT5P as well?   Which also has the Ferrari F1 car in it.

Make no mistake. It will be up to Codemasters and Bernie together whether or not Polyphony will have the F1 2007 Ferrari in GT5. The only way I see it is if Codemasters see it as no conflict to there own game.

And to be honest 1 or 2 F1 cars will not stop 'anyone' buying F1 2010 if they love F1. By the latest report by InsideSimRacing F1 2010's F1 handling and racing model will be ahead anyone over GT5 F1 models.

F1 2010 is including full tyre deformation ( which includes the rubber shredding causing marbles on the tyres and track ). flatspots from locking up under braking affecting the vibrations through the force feedback etc.

The only place on consoles to race an F1 car this year realistically is F1 2010.

How do you know the bold part??? GT3 here in VGC has only Japan sales track.

Sorry, but Forza 3 sales is disappointing for me... I expected better sales even with it unrealistic physical (more like Arcade racing).

Codemasters licences is only for the 2009 and 2010 cars,  just so you know

You see thats is where the problem in your logic is, adding these things arent there to stop people from buying other games, adding all these things to GT5 gives more people a reason to buy GT5. Even if it is a limited experience as you claim, an F1, Nascar, and or Rally fan may buy GT5 just because it has these features in them, even if it is just a small taste.

Are there better shooters on the 360 than Gears and Halo?  Not in my eyes there arent.  So can I say the only place realistically to shoot other people is from one of these games?

How can anyone compare the handling and the physics of the GT5 F1 models when no one has handled them/seen them beyond what was shown in GT5P (which has an outdated physics and handling model) and GTPSP?

I'm not discrediting F1 2010, as I'm buying it as well, but you're grasping at straws whenever you can to bring down GT. I find it kinda odd, since you're supposed to be a major simulator fan.

Of course a full F1 simulator will be better at handling F1 models than a simulator that's handling a vast ranges of automobiles, ranging from Go Karts to F1. The last simulator that has done that was Toca Race Driver 3 and it did it somewhat right (the PC version). Full Tire deformation isn't anything new to F1 simulation. Gran Prix 2 and Gran Prix Legends had that kind of deformation in the 90s.

And as for your first phrase it makes no sense whatsoever. Data Transfer from GTPSP to GT5 is a reality (it was already done before with GT3 Concept 2001 and GT4) and GTPSP has the Ferrari F1 F2007 car in it. That's a fact, and the fact is that GT5 will have the Ferrari F1 F2007 as well.

@Vetteman94

I don't quite know if it's available from GT5P to GT5, but PD did hint at it when GT5P was released. I just know about GTPSP because GTPSP has a Data Transfer to GT5 option in the game menu.

Sorry I meant GT4.

And I among Simulation racing reviews ( not mainstream gaming reviews ) say Forza 3 is the best car sim model on Consoles currently. Thanks to the only Console sim to provide physics updates 360 times a second and actual tyre deformation including managing tyre temperatures for more performance from your tyres.

I would rather make sure GT5 has these must have simulation aspects done before they work on weather. Rain is again even more about tyre deformation than the dry. Be interesting if they have actually implemented all this. Or is it the same as GT4.

Same as GT4? Oh the laughter.

http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5247p3.html Please, take a good long read.

And as you should know by now, since it seems that you're following GT5 development so close, the full GT5 media blowout will be at Gamescon this August.

And there are major undisclosed features yet to be announced to GT5 too: http://www.gtplanet.net/major-gran-turismo-5-feature-still-undisclosed/

Once again Selnor, you're grasping at straws. Practice what you preached back in the days of the Forza 3 threads.

maybe COD BO will be outselling both on X360 and PS3 respectively.

CoD MW2 is the highest selling game of X360(in few months it will outsell Halo3) and

PS3..[(CoD MW2 sales)>(god of war3 killzone 2 uncharted 3)sales]

Black ops is exclusive to 360 this year. Was announced at E3.

Once again Selnor, you're grasping at straws. Practice what you preached back in the days of the Forza 3 threads.

I am not interested in aesthetical changes to technolgy in racing games first. I am interested in the important factors which in real life affect a cars handling.

1. Tyres are the only surface which connects the car to a road. More variables happen from changing tyre conditions than any other part on any car.

2. In a sim racing game, the updating of physics is as important as the force feedback. The less the physics is updated the less of the track affects the ambience of the car. As much as 8ft @ 120 hertz physics.

It's great the tech about changing lighting etc making race conditions change ( obviously visibility ) but I want to know if the walls of tyres deform throwing pressure on the outer wall of the tyre like Forza 3. I want to know if having an excursion over grass, cools your tyres and affects the next few corners for grip levels. I want to know if online people who can heat there tyres up quicker with their driving style have an advantage for better grip earlier on.

These are important simulation aspects, which have to be invloved to be classed as anything approaching a realsitic sim.

After all these are in a GT game, then I will be happy to see night and day, changing weather. Because a wet race is even more important on tyre deformation. Blistering etc.

I thought GT fans were sim fans? All anyone ever talks about and shows me is aesthetical technology and graphics.
