Looks like I've missed quite a bit of discussion today.
Personally, it seems to me that WoW is acting no differently than I've seen in other games, by giving us a random idea that no one else thought of. It would seem to me that if WoW was anti town, it would be incredibly stupid to be so obvious, but then again, if we accept this as usual behavior, it is possible. At this point, however, I am suspicious of WoW, but not overly so.
As for the idea of everyone sharing their names, I too would rather not be a target if I say my name. I have no experience with Street Fighter, so I don't really know who the characters are or what their allignment would normally be either.

I am not sure that the name claiming could be helpful to the town at this point. It seems too rushed for a first day situation.
From the arguments of Words of Wisdom and his dicussion on ability, I would think that roles must be a bit game-bound. Bison is the super-evil character in the game and his opponents are the goodies.
Rose is one of the typical anti-Bison characters.
The line of thought taken by WoW kind of puts me in doubt on his approach. If townie, what he is doing would be sheer suicide. I mean mafia would be out to stop this on the first night. I'm started to think of calling the bluff.

However, I'm prepared to give WoW the benefit of the doubt here. My only qualm is that it could cause a lot of carnage if antitowns are hunting towns as well as vice versa.
But since thanks to WoW we already have exposed significant numbers of people, we might as well go all in and hope for the best IMO. It WOULD be good to get rid of an SK.

I don't follow. If everyone claims, the damage is done and WoW can presumably kill Bison Night 1. They could maybe get him in revenge but that's it.
And you can be forgiven for not knowing this from previous games, but WoW is usually a huge target anyway, so his position in that way wouldn't be that much worse.

Oh and this is completely up to you but I think it might help you in following this game if you set the posts per page to 50 or even 100. You can do it by going into Settings (it's to the left, under your avatar pic [edit: at the top of this page]) and then Preferences (the middle of five tabs at the top)

I am still a bit leery of this for a few reasons. Most notably there are potential scenarios for the reverse to also be true as bad guys hunt good guys. As an extremely relevant example there is some fatty that wants to kill Ken in the game. We are also hinging on a big unknown. Supposing WoW is completely honest (and in Mafia I never believe anyone is completely honest) there are still a few potential dangers and pitfalls to avoid.
As a side note, I hate you for getting one of the 2 characters I really wanted to have!
Rufus is the character I am thinking of, and he isn't in it. I stand by my point even without the example though.
Well we have the advantage in that we can convince a few people, and then our argument gets stronger that the damage is done so we might as well get the benefit of it, in a vicious awesome cycle until you have to give in!

Ok, I must say.. This sucks. Seriously the only good thing that could happen is that WoW is anti SF and we don't listen to her. No other situation is good in my eyes.
If she's telling the truth and we listen to her it'll be a cheap win
If she's telling the truth and we don't listen to hear we lose our anti SK
If she's lying and we listen to her she or some anti town will win.
This sucks, and in the case somebody wins fast I'll feel sorry for Hatmoza because he made the effor to doing a balanced game and unless he was counting in something like this (which I doubt) it'll be all in vain just because a flaw in the balance.
